Mitch Bratt delivers a strong start and Abimelec Ortiz homers to lift Frisco over Missions.

LHP Mitch Bratt, the Texas Rangers no. 9 ranked prospect, hasn't been taking it easy on Texas League hitters this season. He just made his 16th start (17th appearance) of 2025 for the Frisco RoughRiders on Tuesday, July 29, at Riders Field.
Entering the game, the lefty ranked second in the Texas League with 104 strikeouts, fifth with a 3.28 ERA and 1.19 WHIP, and 11th with a .262 batting average against.
Nice Outing Against San Antonio
Facing the San Antonio Missions (Padres) and their No. 3 prospect, RHP Braden Nett, Bratt shined, tossing 5.2 innings and allowing just 1 run on 4 hits, with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts on 84 pitches (55 strikes, 65%). He retired 14 of his last 20 batters, earning his sixth win and lowering his ERA to 3.18.
Game Highlights
The RoughRiders (10-18, 48-48) secured a 4-2 win over the Missions (12-16, 51-46). San Antonio took a 1-0 lead with Devin Ortiz’s solo homer in the first, but Bratt settled down and didn't allow another run.
Frisco responded in the fourth with Keyber Rodriguez’s sacrifice fly and Cam Cauley’s RBI single for a 2-1 lead. Rodriguez’s RBI single in the seventh made it 3-1.
The Missions almost tied the game in the 8th. Moisés Gómez’s RBI double for the Missions cut it to 3-2.
Reliever Gavin Collyer allowed a run on 2 hits, a walk and 2 strikeouts. He induced a flyout to preserve the 3-2 lead.
Abimelec Ortiz’s solo homer in the eighth pushed it to 4-2. He leads the team with 14 home runs.
Gerardo Carrillo sealed his third save with a scoreless ninth. Missions reliever Jared Kollar (0-5) took the loss, allowing three runs over four innings.
