RoughRiders

SP: Jonathan Hern?ndez, RHP (4-7, 5.78)

Ranked as the #8 prospect of the Rangers according to MLB.com and he has been someone I’ve been excited about for a long time. This year has not been his best year and I’m sure the Rangers would like to see more from him. Looking at his numbers, his best month was in May when his ERA was 4.64 in 33 innings.

In his 2 starts against the Drillers this year he is 0-2 and allowed 10 runs in 8.2 innings.

For the year Left-handed batters are hitting .295 average, .364 on-base, .518 slugging for an .882 OPS.

Right-handed batters are hitting for a lower average of .264, .341 on-base, and a .415 slugging. OPS .756

Drillers

SP: Edwin Uceta, RHP (2-2, 4.29)

Uceta is the #20 ranked prospect in the Dodgers system. This will be the first time the RoughRiders will face him. For the year, RHBs have an average of .251, .335 OBP, .400 SLG and and OPS of .735. LHBs have a .253 AVG, .312 OBP, .383 SLG and an OPS of .695. He’s pitched 6 innings in each of his last two starts, allowing only 1 run in just 1 of those starts.

Tyler Phillips, photo by: Heath Criswell

SP: Tyler Phillips, RHP (3-7, 6.36)

Tyler Phillips is listed as the Rangers #14 prospect by MLB. Phillips spent the first part of the season with the DEWDs where he dominated opposing line-ups. He had a 2-2 record and an ERA of 1.19 in 37.2 innings. He throws strikes and doesn’t issues many free passes. With Down East he issued 6 walks.

His time in Frisco hasn’t been as easy. In 52.1 innings his earned run average is 6.36 and his WHIP is 1.395. The walks are slightly up with a average of 1.9 walks per 9 innings.

Phillips’ last start was against these Drillers on July 18th. He pitched 6 innings and allowed 2 runs on 4 hits with 3 strikeouts. Hopefully he can repeat that performance here.

Drillers

Curry has had a solid season in his 54.2 innings. He’s started 7 games with the rest being as a reliever or opener.

Right-handed batters are hitting for an average of .206, .263 OBP, .275 SLG and OPS of .538.

Left-handed batters are hitting .238, .286 OBP, .486 SLG and OPS of .771.
