Defender of the Month

Antonis Macias - Single-A Hickory

The 20 year old second basemen played 20 of his 24 games there with the other 4 game's having him over at 1st base. Macias was the only player in the Carolina League infielder with at least 20 games played and didn’t commit a single Error during the month. He has the 3rd best fielding percentage amongst infielders in the league with a .977 percentage showcasing an elite talent with the leather. Going 82 for 82 across all chances, he was truly as steady as they come.

Reliever of the Month

Codi Heuer - AAA Round Rock

The 29 Year Old Journeyman who’s still attempting to pitch back from Tommy John had a 1.80 ERA in his 8 relief appearances since being optioned down by the Rangers on June 4th. Heuer had a 14.4 K/9 Ratio and amongst PCL relievers with at least 10 IP he ranked in Opponent OPS(4th) WHIP(5th) and ERA(6th). Heuer recorded 2 or more K’s in 4 of his 8 appearances and has a 2.93 ERA this season so far for Round Rock with a 3-2 W-L record.

Starting Pitcher of the Month

Kohl Drake - AA Frisco

Kohl Drake finally urned the promotion to Round Rock on July 3rd after a fantastic June and an overall impressive last year and a half. In 4 starts Drake had an impressive 1.64 ERA in 22 IP which included a career high 7 Shut Out innings on June 18th and had 16 scoreless innings to end the month. The Southpaw is now the Rangers No. 11 Prospect and ranked in the top 10 in the Texas league in IP(3rd), WHIP(4th), opponent BAA(4th), and ERA(6th). The 25 Year Old is truly coming into his own since being selected in 22’ and will look to carry over his success to Round Rock. He finished his time in Frisco this season with a 2.44 ERA over 12 Starts this season.

Player of the Month

Cody Freeman - AAA Round Rock

The 24 Year Old has continued to improve and has seemed to found his groove in Round Rock. He has hit exceptionally so far and June was the pinnacle for his bat so far this season. In June Freeman Slashed .347/.413/.582 with 11 XBH, 19 RBI and even walked more(10) than he struck out(9). He ranked top 10 in the PCL in Runs(3rd) Hits(4th), BA(6th), and Total bases(6th). With Offense not being what it was it seems Freeman is closer than ever to achieving the dream of the Majors. If he continues to put up these numbers it will only be a matter of time until he gets the call.
