The Texas Rangers have a pitching prospect that is making headlines. Right-hander Owen White, has been named the Arizona Fall League pitcher of the week by MLB.
In his Arizona Fall League debut on October 14, 2021, he pitched five scoreless innings and earned the win. Click here for the boxscore. White struckout five batters while giving up only a couple of hits and walks. He threw 73 pitches- 46 were strikes and generated 10 swing and misses. Here is an article I wrote at the time.
Owen White did not pitch at all in 2019 due to injury (Tommy John) and 2020 since it was lost to Covid. He also missed time this season due to fractured hand so what he has done this season is remarkable.
In Down East he pitched a total of 33.1 innings issuing 12 walks and striking out 54 batters.
He also pitched two innings in the Arizona Complex League where he allowed one hit and struckout two.
White has opened some eyes with these fantastic numbers he’s posted this season. He is on the long list of exciting pitching prospects moving up the ranks in the Rangers farm system.
