RoughRiders lose on fair night despite 3 HR’s

It was State Fair night at Riders Field which featured a t-shirt giveaway to the first 500 fans and State Fair food staples including: Corn Dogs and funnel cakes. A crowd of 8,465 was on hand as the RoughRiders went by the name Corny Dogs and wore their special uniforms including the popular Corny Dog hat.

On the Mound

Ronny Henriquez (4.69) got the start for the RoughRiders and pitched four innings. He allowed one run on three hits, three walks and struckout six.

Newly promoted Tai Tiedemann (7.36) pitched 2.2 innings out of the pen. The Sod Poodles scored three runs on five hits and struckout once.

Fernery Ozuna (5.06) pitched 1.1 innings, allowing five runs on four hits, two walks and two strikeouts. Ozuna took the loss.

Catcher/Pitcher Jordan Procyshen (3.68) pitched the 9th and allowed one hit and one walk but got out of the inning unscathed.

By that point, the RoughRiders were down 9-4.

At the Plate

The RoughRiders hit three home runs. Anderson Tejeda (.207) sent his 8th home run of the season with the RoughRiders to right center field in the bottom of the 1st. He finished the game going 2-4, with the home run, RBI, 2 runs and 2 SO.

Josh Jung (.307) went 3-3 at the plate with a home run, his 10th of the season, with 2 RBI.

Sam Huff demolished a ball. Just a couple of weeks ago, he sent a ball 495 feet. Last night, he sent a ball 504 feet into orbit. Those are definitely the longest home runs of the season at Riders Field.

Blaine Crim (.222) also had a hit. He went 1-4 with two strikeouts.

Diosbel Arias (.279) went 1-3.

As a line-up no one walked and they struckout 10 times.

Frias (5-6, 5.25) earned the win for the Sod Poodles. Holton (7.01) earned the save by pitching two scoreless innings.

LHP, Cole Ragans (0-1, 6.00) takes the mound for the RoughRiders against LHP Tommy Henry (1-4, 4.98) and the Sod Poodles.

Monday is an off-day as the RoughRiders head to Arkansas to take on the Naturals for a six-game series.
