The Surprise Saguaros have dominated the Arizona Fall League so far. The won in walk-off fashion against the Rafters by a final of 8-7 and move to 10-3.
Royals pitching prospect, Asa Lacy started for the Saguaros. The left-hander tossed three scoreless innings, giving up two hits, two walks and striking out five batters. He threw 45 pitches- 28 strikes-12 of which were swings and misses.
The Saguaros scored one run in the bottom of the 1st and three in the bottom of the 2nd to hold an early 4-0. They held the Rafters (6-6) scoreless until the top of the fifth inning when they scored a run from a Dominic Canzone (Diamondbacks) single.
The Rafters added two more runs in the top of the 7th to make it a 4-3 game with the Saguaros still leading.
Rangers right-hander Eudrys Manon (5.79) pitched a scoreless top of the 8th. Right-hander Tanner Myatt replaced Manon in the top of the 9th. The Rafters scored four runs on three walks, a home run, two singles. Not in that order but you get the point. The Rafters had a 7-4 lead going to the bottom of the 9th.
The Saguaros weren't going to lose this game without a fight.
Donovan Casey hit a one-out double. Ezequiel Duran (Rangers) hit a single, advancing Casey to 3rd. Ivan Johnson worked a four-pitch walk to load the bases. Justin Foscue then popped out for the 2nd out. Austin Wells hit a three-run single to tie the game at 7.
Probably the move of the game was Michael Siani being brought in as a pinch-runner. He promptly stole 2nd base and scored on the two-out single by Seuly Matias for the Saguaros 8-7 walk off victory.
Siani now has 10 stolen bases including two steals of home during the AFL.
