Texas Rangers prospect Evan Carter won Rawlings Gold Glove
Evan Carter, the Texas Rangers' top prospect, has won the Rawlings Gold Glove award. MiLB and Rawlings Sporting Goods Company, Inc., announced the nine award winners last week. Carter is the second prospect in Texas Rangers and RougRiders history to win the award, joining Jose Trevino who won a gold glove at catcher in 2017 while assigned to the RoughRiders. Mason Englert wins back-to-back Pitcher of the Week
Former Texas A&M commit, Mason Englert, was named the South Atlantic Pitcher of the Week AGAIN. The Texas Rangers selected Mason in the 4th round of the 2018 draft (119th overall). On August 18th, Mason pitched against the Winston-Salem Dash and threw 6 no-hit innings. He issued 1 walk and struckout 3! 22-year-old Forney Texas native RHP Mason Englert wins South Atlantic League Pitcher of the week for his August 11th outing against the Greenville Drive. Mason and reliever Theo McDowell combined for a No-Hitter. It was the Crawdads 2nd No-hitter of the season. Mason threw 7 no-hit innings and issued only 2 walks. Cristian Inoa wins South Atlantic League Player of the Week award
1st baseman Cristian Inoa, 23, led the league in hits and runs this week to win the South Atlantic League Player of the week award. Hickory won four out of the six games against the Rome Braves where Cristian Inoa had a .600 batting average with 12 hits, 3 home runs, 6 RBI, 22 total bases, 12 runs scored and a .652 on-base percentage. For the season, the infielder is hitting .304 with 9 home runs, 45 RBI, 2 steals with a .845 OPS. Congratulations on your award Cristian.

There was a few firsts for the Hickory Crawdads last night. For the 1st time since throwing a no hitter against Delmarva on May 19, 2013, Hickory threw a combined 10 inning no-hitter. It was first 9 innings plus no-hitter since 2004 and the 5th No-hitter in team history according to Crawdads beat writer Mark Parker. Owen White, the eighth ranked prospect in the Texas Rangers organization, is in line for a promotion to Double-A Frisco. White was drafted by the Rangers in the 2nd round of the 2018 draft. He had the dreaded Tommy John surgery in May of 2019 and was sidelined until the 2021 season and his stock has steadily risen since. Texas Rangers prospect, Cody Freeman has been named player of the week in the South Atlantic League. Freeman, 21, was the Rangers 4th round pick in 2019 from Etiwanda High School. He is a versatile infielder playing Catcher, Third base and 2nd base. For the week he hit for a .429 average, with 6 hits, 3 home runs, 10 RBI and 1 stolen base. That's an excellent week. So far this season Freeman has slashed a line of .243/.325/.457/.782 with 5 home runs and 19 RBI.
