As the off-season continues and the virtual Winter Meetings coming up, the Rangers are making roster moves. The Rangers signed Joe Gatto, who is a right-handed pitcher and re-signed outfielder Scott Heineman. Both were signed to Major-League contracts. Joe Gatto Gatto, 25, is a right-handed pitcher who stands at 6'3 and 220 lbs. The Los Angeles Angels selected him in the 2nd round of the 2014 draft and he's been in their farm system ever since. Willie Calhoun activated and Heineman optioned to alternate site

Willie Calhoun has been activated from the IL and Scott Heineman was optioned to the alternate training site. Willie has been on the IL from a left hamstring injury for about a month. Prior to going on the IL, Calhoun was slashing a line of .172/.206/.224/.430 in 18 games with no home runs. Heineman was sent to the Alternate site in the corresponding roster move which keeps Eli White and Leody Taveras in the line-up. In his 24 games he has slashed a line of .154/.185/.269/.454 at the plate.

The Texas Rangers made quite a bit of moves today that I consider to be the first wave of the future. Isiah Kiner-Falefa is back from Double-A. Catcher, Jose Trevino has been promoted from Triple-A Nashville as well as Scott Heineman. Last but not least, Emmanuel Clase was promoted from Double-A Frisco.
