Tekoah Roby earns 1st Double-A win

Texas Rangers pitching prospect Tekoah Roby dominated the Amarillo Sod Poodles over 5 innings, earning his 1st Double-A win in his 4th start of the season. Jax Biggers had the big knock in the game, delivering a grand slam in the top of the 6th for the RoughRiders to win 5-1 in Hodgetown in Amarillo.

Roby (1-2, 5.79) allowed just 1 run on 4 hits and a walk. He struck out 8 batters in his 5 innings of work. Besides the lead-off home run he gave up in the bottom of the 1st, the right-hander was in control and kept the Sod Poodles off balance. He struckout the side – all swinging- in the 4th.

Biggers (1-for-3, .161) broke the game open with his grand slam in the top of the 6th inning. It was his 1st HR of the season. The 26-year-old infielder drove a 1-2 pitch from Sod Poodles reliever Jeff Bain over right center field wall to give the RoughRiders a 5-1 lead.

The home run was all the Sod Poodles could muster against Roby and the RoughRiders bullpen. Grant

The RoughRiders (9-9) needed the win to push their record back to .500. The Sod Poodles move to (10-8).

The game was played in front of a crowd of 6,239 at Hodgetown. The weather was clear and the temperature was 77 degrees at game time.

The RoughRiders will continue their series with the Sod Poodles on Friday night. Right-hander Ryan Garcia (0-1, 3.37 ERA) will start for the RoughRiders.
