The Texas Rangers are set to bolster their farm system with a high-upside outfield talent as the 2026 international signing period begins on Jan. 15.
The 2026 International signing period runs from Jan. 15, 2026, through Dec. 15, 2026. Many top international prospects have had commitments in place dating back 2-4 years.
Teams with a $6.68 million bonus pool include the Atlanta Braves, Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers, Philadelphia Phillies, Texas Rangers and Washington Nationals.
According to Baseball America's Ben Badler, the Rangers are expected to sign 17-year-old outfielder Elian Rosario from the Dominican Republic once the signing window opens.
Rosario, listed at 6-foot-2, 195 pounds, appears larger than his measurements suggest and stands out on video as a physical future power hitter.
Expect some swing-and-miss, but when he connects, he produces some of the best exit velocities in the 2026 class (regularly registers triple-digit exit velos).
Rosario has experience in both the infield and outfield but projects as a corner outfielder. He has a plus arm in the outfield. If he hits enough, he has the potential to become a big-time power hitter.
MLB Pipeline ranks Rosario as the No. 10 international prospect overall. Baseball America lists him ninth on its international prospects bonus board, projecting the ninth-largest bonus among 2026 international prospects, with the Rangers as his expected team.
The addition of Rosario addresses a key need for outfield depth in the Rangers' farm system, where pitching remains the strongest area.
Rosario's blend of power, athleticism and projectable frame makes him one of the most intriguing prospects in this year's international class.
The organization is also reportedly expected to sign right-hander Frandel Pineda during the period.
