The last time Texas Rangers prospect Ryan Garcia took the mound in a game was July 14, 2019 for the Spokane Indians, who was an affiliate of the Rangers prior to the MiLB realignment. Ryan was drafted by the Rangers in the 2nd round of the 2019 draft from UCLA.

His most successful season at UCLA was in 2019 when he went 10-1 with a 1.44 earned run average in 94 innings pitched.

Ryan had Tommy John surgery in March of 2020 but the 2020 minor-league season was canceled. In 2021, he dealt with oblique issues last season.

Many people have asked about his return to the mound as there hasn’t been much news about it. We’re happy to report that he will be pitching in an extended spring training game on Friday, April 22, 2022. After a start or two it is safe to assume that he will be assigned to one of the lower-level affiliates.

Ryan Garcia assigned to Low-A

Ryan Garcia was assigned to the Low-A Down East Wood Ducks on May 31st.

He made his 1st start on Friday June 3, 2022 where he pitched 2.2 scoreless innings. He allowed one hit, one walk and struckout three.
