Texas Rangers top 15 prospects 2021
1. Leody Taveras
Age | Height | Weight | Position | Bats | Throws | Drafted | Highest Level |
22 | 6’2 | 195 | Center | Switch | Right | Signed in July of 2015 as an International Free Agent out of the Dominican Republic | MLB |
Taveras has been a favorite here for a while. You could say we are partial to him. He’s got the glove, arm and speed. In person, Taveras makes tracking down balls look extremely easy. He’s got a little pop and even showed more power at the plate in first season in the Majors than his time in the minors. The most home runs he’s hit in a year is 8 in 2017 in 577 plates appearances. He hit 4 home runs in 134 plate appearances. Hopefully with a little more maturing and filling out the power numbers will follow. Even if they don’t, Taveras is a solid defensive Centerfielder and the Rangers don’t need him to knock them all out of the park.
There were a few players who were just on the cusp of making our top 15. A few include DeMarcus Evans, Joe Palumbo and Bubba Thompson.
As you can see from just our top 15 list, 2021 is going to be an exciting year for the Texas Rangers. We will see a few more of these prospects make their Major-League Debut and help contribute.
