There is quite a bit of news on the farm on the promotion front today and that is always a good thing.
Steele Walker has been promoted to AAA Round Rock
Steele Walker, 25, has been a fan favorite in Frisco. He’s got that cool confidence and is great with the fans. He slashed a line of .255/.323/.439/.763 with 10 HR, 40 RBI and 8 SB across 63 games while playing for the RoughRiders.
Across his last 9 games, going back to July 23rd, he has hit .324/.395/.500/.895 with 1 HR, 3 RBI, 4 BB, and 11 SO. Steele has also stolen 2 bases over those games. Congratulations to Steele Walker on the promotion to Round Rock!
Miguel Aparicio promoted to AA Frisco
Miguel Aparicio, 22, is a player that I’ve been excited about and RoughRiders fans will be getting a treat watching him play. While playing for the High-A affiliate, the Hickory Crawdads he has slashed .274/.366/.567/.934 at the plate. He’s hit 12 home runs with 35 RBI, 18 walks and struckout 41 times. He bats from the left side of the plate and throws left-handed as well.
July was a fantastic month for Aparicio. He hit .373/.468/.881/1.349 with 9 home runs and 21 RBI. It doesn’t really get any better than that. Congratulations to Miguel Aparicio on the deserved promotion to Double-A Frisco.
Blake Bass
Right-handed pitcher Blake Bass has been activated off of the Developmental List.
Yonny Hernandez was called up
I was always impressed with Yonny when I saw him play in Frisco. He’s not the biggest or flashiest guy on the field but he makes things happen and he is an on-base machine. That’s according to my non-trained eyes.
He’s spent this 2021 season in Triple-A Round Rock. He’s slashed a line of .250/.424/.323/.747 with 1 HR, 13 RBI and 21 stolen bases. The big thing I notice is he walked more than he struckout. 54 walks/44 strikeouts. The power isn’t really there but he gets on-base. The Rangers could sure use that.
He played third base, batted 9th and went 0-2 with a walk in his Rangers debut. Congratulations for the getting the call Yonny!
