Since it’s the off-season and we’re all missing Minor-League baseball, here is another edition of #AskTPTs, AKA, Ask The Prospect Times.
We had alot of participation and got tons of great questions from our Twitter followers. This time around, Jeff Hewitt, joined me in answering you questions.
#AskTPTs Questions
The first question comes from @azbballnerd but I’m not able to embed the tweet.
Where does Johnathan Hernandez start the szn? Do u expect to see Hearn turn reliever like Hernandez at some point this yr?
Answer from Heath:
Great questions. If Jonathan Hern?ndez has a strong spring, he will start the season coming out of the bullpen in Arlington. If not, we will see him go to Nashville to work on things.
With Taylor Hearn, I have to believe the Rangers still view him as a starter. It’s unfortunate that injuries set him back this season.
Watched a lot of Down East games this past season, how do you like the Carolina league players?
? Tom Kuzia (@TJKuzia) October 29, 2019
Heath: I wasn’t able to watch a ton of Down East games but we had a talented team this year in the 1st and 2 half, ending with a 87-52 record. Curtis Terry really impressed me and I was able to see him in person with the Futures Camp in Frisco. He is a big human and crushes baseballs. There’s also Sam Huff, Sherten Apostel, Josh Advocate, Cole Uvila, Diosbel Arias….I could go on.?
Josh Advocate? #asktpt
? Mohave Shred (@MohaveShred) November 1, 2019
Heath: Josh Advocate had a great year for the DEWDs. He pitched 75 innings, gave up 55 hits, walked 26 and struck out 77. His WHIP was 1.080 in Down East. He also pitched 11.1 innings in the Arizona Fall League didn’t allow an earned run. There is a good chance we see him start the year in Frisco.
Jeff: Josh Advocate is going to be 26 when the season starts! He will start in Frisco next year! I feel that he will be a very good setup reliever in the majors if and when he gets his call up.?

Any big names playing in the winter leagues? #AskTPTs
? Rick Rhodes (@Rickthechosen) November 1, 2019
Heath: yes, DeMarcus Evans who had a fantastic year in Down East and then Frisco. He has pitched 6.2 innings and has an earned run average of 1.35. Eliezer Alvarez is also playing and has a .364 average with 2 RBI in 8 games.
Ex-Ranger Neftali Feliz is also pitching but allowed a run in 2/3 of an inning and walked 3.?
Jeff: Demarcus Evans is having a great Winter League 6G 1.35 Era 6 2/3 IP
Who will be promoted to Frisco in 2020? #AskTPTs
? BJ (@bzincked) November 1, 2019
Heath: Curtis Terry, Josh Advocate, Sherten Apostel just to name a few but there will be more.
Jeff: here?s who?s not going to be in Frisco: Evans, Phillips, Taveras, De Leon.
How would you feel about giving up someone like Jung to go get a proven player (eg Marte)? #AskTPT
? Lee Marvin, actor of some note (@BallFromGrace) November 1, 2019
Heath: Jung would have to be part of a package to get a star-caliber player in return. Most likely, for a starting pitcher near the trade deadline if he is dealt. If the Rangers are able to sign Anthony Rendon then trading Jung becomes more likely.
Jeff: it would have to be a Noah Syndergaard type trade to give up Jung ?
Who is going to be the biggest surprise in the 2020 season? #AskTPTs
? Tony Muniz (@TonyMu84) October 23, 2019
Heath:?The biggest surprise in the farm system will be Bubba Thompson. I’m looking for him to have a healthy breakout year with the bat.
Jeff: I feel that if Rougned Odor has a great spring training I think he will carry it through the 2020 season.
