Tuesday Morning, Baseball America put out its top 100 Prospects and there’s some new Rangers in new places in the top 100.
Emiliano Teodo
Starting off at No. 97 is RHP Emiliano Teodo. Teodo was coming into 2024 after a rough 2023 and had a 4.52 in High-A Hickory. This year he has been unstoppable with a 2.00 ERA in his 19 starts in Frisco, even getting to start for the AL in the Future Stars game where he threw 2 scoreless innings.
Alejandro Rosario
Next down the list is Alejandro Rosario at No. 86. The righty was a 5th-round draft pick in last year’s draft out of the University of Miami. He’s been amazing to say the least boasting a 9.9 Walk to Strikeout ratio. He’s pitched in 18 games, starting 17 of those games and has a great 2.24 ERA over that span. My assumption is he’s above Teodo on this list due to his ability to Strikeout a lot while maintaining control in the zone mustering just 13 walks to the tune of 129 Strikeouts. Meanwhile, Teodo has 108 Strikeouts with 49 walks.
Sebastian Walcott
Sebastian Walcott is who they ranked as the Rangers 2nd best prospect, and had him ranked at number 55. The 18 year old got off to an egregiously slow start not hitting over the Mendoza line til June. Thankfully, since then the young shortstop has picked it up and has really settled in and has not hit below .286 for a month since then! His bat has been super fun to watch and he also earned a spot on the AL Future Stars team and even participated in the skills challenge after the game. Would not be shocked to see him at Frisco to kick off the 2025 minor league season.
Kumar Rocker
Last but certainly not least, breaking into the top 30 and ranked as the number 1 Rangers prospect via Baseball America is Kumar Rocker. Putting him right at 30, he’s skyrocketed up prospects lists with his otherworldly stuff since coming back from Tommy John Surgery. The 6’5” Righty has a 1.71 ERA across 3 levels and his most recent start came in Round Rock where he went 5 innings giving up only 1 hit, and fanning 10. His stuff has been masterful and has earned the No. 30 spot and could find himself pitching in Arlington to end the year or make the Opening Day roster as one of the 5 Starters.
It’s unprecedented for the Rangers to have most of their top prospects be pitchers but it leads to a very eager and exciting 2025 and beyond. I can’t wait to see these arms climb the ranks more and make their way to the bigs!
