Thank you for joining me in Around the Farm. Updates from games on April 9, 2019.
The Sounds had an intriguing pitching match-up. Forrest Whitley, the Astros number 1 Prospect, started for Round Rock (Astros Triple-A affiliate). He pitched 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits, 1 walk and 7 strikeouts. I believe we will see this kid in Houston soon.
Nashville Sounds (2-4)
Taylor Hearn, LHP, allowed 1 R on 4 hits over 5 IP with 4 strikeouts and 4 walks. He has a 4.50 earned run average on the year.
Brett Martin pitched 2.1 scoreless innings, 2 BB, 3 SO, 1.93 ERA.

Nick Gardewine pitched 1.2 innings, allowing 2 hits, 1 walk and striking out 3. He earned his first save.
Willie Calhoun went 1-4 with a home run. His average is at .238.
Jett Bandy went 1-3, with a home run and 2 strikeouts. .091 AVG
Carlos Tocci went 2-3 and got caught stealing. .316 AVG
Frisco RoughRiders (4-1)
Frisco’s offense has come alive the last 2 nights. They won this game 12-4 against the Corpus Christi Hooks (Houston Astros Double-A affiliate), thanks to the help of Andretty Cordero,?who had a career night.

He ended his night going 2-3 with his 2 home runs and drove in 7! He also had a walk. A good night for the Designated Hitter and brought his AVG to .368.
Eliezer Alvarez also had a good night going 3-5 with 3 RBI and is hitting an even .300.
Pedro Payano went 5 innings giving up 3 runs on 4 hits, 3 walks and 6 strikeouts. He is 1-0 with a 5.40 earned run average.
Shout out to Locke St John who pitched 3 innings, allowing only 1 hit and 1 walk. He really Locked them down and got his first hold.
Down East Wood Ducks (4-2)
The Wood Ducks won 5-4 against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (Chicago Cubs).
Jason Bahr, RHP got the start for the Wood Ducks. He pitched 3 scoreless innings. In the process he walked 3 and struck out 3.
Josh Advocate (1-0) pitched 1.2 innings in relief, allowing 1 run on 1 hit, 2 walks and 1 strikeout. His ERA is 2.70 and he got the W.

DeMarcus Evans pitched 1.2 innings, walking 2 and striking out 2 to earn his first save.
Eric Jenkins was 2-4 with 2 RBI on 2 hits. He had a run and struck out once and has a .304 average.
Bubba Thompson had an 0-4 night with 2 SO. He is hitting .130.
Oscar Taveras was 1-3 with 1 run, 1 walk and a strikeout, .478 AVG.
Anderson Tejeda was 2-3 with 2 RBI, 1 walk, .389 AVG.
Hickory Crawdads (5-1)
The Crawdads had a double header against the Greensboro Grasshoppers.
The first game the Crawdads won 3-1 in 10 innings.
Tim Brennan got the start and pitched 5 solid innings. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits and 1 walk. He struck out 2 and his ERA is 1.80 but as solid as he was, he didn’t get the win.
Grant Anderson pitched 2 scoreless innings walking 1 and striking out 3.
Cole Uvila pitched in relief with 3 scoreless innings. He allowed 1 hit, walked 1 and struck out 4 and got the win.
The RBI’s came from Matt Whatley, Curtis Terry and Sam Huff. Huff is hitting .421.
2nd game of the Double Header
Crawdads win 4-0
Yerry Rodriguez pitched 5 shut out innings only giving up 4 hits and struck out 6. He threw 66 pitches and 48 of those were strikes and picked up his first win of the year.
Julio Pablo Martinez went 2-4 with a home run and 2 RBI. He struck out 2 times and is hitting .316.
Jonathan Ornelas went 2-2 with a walk and run scored. He is hitting .273.
Sherten Apostel went 1-3 with a walk and 2 SO, he also stole a base and had a throwing error. His 2nd error of the young season and he’s got a .211 avg.
