Welcome to Around the Farm! This is about highlights from games played in the Rangers farm system on April 10, 2019.

Nashville Sounds (2-5)

The Nashville Sounds lost a tough one after they tied it up in the top of the 9th at 5-5. They lost the game in 10 innings by a final of 9-5.

Ariel Jurado made another solid start, pitching 6 innings and allowing 2 runs on 5 hits. He walked 1 and struck out 3 and brought his ERA to 2.45.

Tim Dillard pitched 1.1 innings allowing 2 runs on 2 hits and striking out 3 bringing his ERA to 5.79.

Taking the loss was Miguel Del Pozo. He pitched 1.2 innings and allowed 5 runs (4 earned) on 3 hits and 4 walks. His ERA is 7.71.

Offense 5 runs on 9 hits

Carlos Tocci went 2-5 with a run and 2 strikeouts. His AVG is .333.

Willie Calhoun seems to be heating up. He went 2-4 with an RBI, a walk and a strikeout. His average is now .280.

Andy Ibáñez went 2-4 with a run, a walk and a strikeout, .563 AVG

Zach Granite went 1-5 with 3 RBI, .136 AVG

Frisco RoughRiders (5-1)

The RoughRiders beat the Corpus Christi Hooks by a final of 10-5. Their bats have really come alive as of late and it’s good to see.

Wei-Chieh Huang got the start and pitched 3 innings. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits and struck out 3, 1.30 ERA.

Blake Bass pitched 2 scoreless innings but walked 3. He threw 45 pitches, 25 for strikes.

Jefferson Medina had a blown save. He pitched 1.1 innings and allowed 3 runs on 4 hits, 2 walks, 2 SO, 10.13 ERA.

Yoel Espinal earned his first win of the year. He pitched 2.2 innings and allowed 1 run on 3 hits, 1 walk and struck out 6. 1.80 ERA

This offense has surprised me the last few games. They got 10 runs on 12 hits.

Eliezer Alvarez started things off. He went 3-5 with 2 RBI, 2 runs, 2 SO, .360 AVG.

Preston Beck went 2-4 with 1 RBI, 1 run, 1 BB, 1 SO, .346 AVG.

Juremi Profar went 1-2 with 2 RBI, 2 BB and 1 SO, .143 AVG

Brendon Davis got his first hit of the year. He went 1-3 with 2 RBI, 1 run, 1 SO, .059 AVG.

Down East Wood Ducks (5-2)

The Wood Ducks shut out the Myrtle Beach Pelicans by a final of 7-0.

Tyler Phillips (1-0, 0.00 ERA)

Phillips was a surgeon on the mound today, pitching 7 shut out innings. Allowing only 4 hits and striking out 3.

Francisco Villegas pitched 1 inning of relief as did Joe Barlow. Barlow walked 1 and struck out 2 in his scoreless inning.

Offense 7 Runs on 10 hits

Ryan Dorow went 1-4 with 2 RBI, .238 AVG.

Leody Taveras went 1-3 with a walk and a strikeout and he is hitting .462.

Diosbel Arias went 2-4 with 2 runs and is hitting .333

Yanio Perez went 2-3 with a home run and 2 RBI. He had 2 runs and a walk and is hitting .200.

Yonny Hernandez went 2-4 with a run and RBI and has an average of .375.

Hickory Crawdads (6-1)

The Crawdads beat the Greensboro Grasshoppers by a score of 5-0.

The man, the top prospect of the Rangers, was missing bats today. Hans Crouse. If you don’t know the name, remember it and come back here to get updates.

Today he pitched 5 shutout innings and only allowed 1 hit and struck out 9 picking up his 1st win of the year. He threw 67 pitches and 45 we’re strikes.

A shout-out to the 2 other pitchers who contributed to the shut out.

Grant Wolfram earned his first hold of the season, pitching 2 scoreless innings while walking 2 and striking out 3.

Scott Engler also pitched 2 scoreless innings allowing 2 hits and striking out 4.

Line-up: 5 runs on 8 hits

Julio Pablo Martinez was 2-4 with an RBI and is hitting .348.

Chris Seise went 1-4 with an RBI but struck out 3 times. He has an average of .400.

Cather Sam Huff was 1-4 with a run and 2 strikeouts. His average is up to .385.

Jose Almonte went 2-4, including his 1st home run of the year. He had 2 runs and 2 RBI and 1 strikeout. His average is at .333

Jonathan Ornelas also went 2-4 with 2 runs and 1 RBI. He also struck out once and is hitting .333.
