Gavin Fien Assigned to High-A Hickory for Pro Debut
Rangers' First-Round Pick Heads to Crawdads The Texas Rangers are assigning their first-round pick, shortstop Gavin Fien, to High-A Hickory, per Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News. The 18-year-old is expected to make his professional debut this weekend against the Lynchburg Hillcats (Guardians). Prep Background and Scout Views Fien, a prep star from Great Oak High School in Temecula, Calif., built a good reputation on the summer circuit, but had consistency issues in his final prep season.
