Frisco has hosted some great players this year from Rehabbing All-Stars to up-and-coming prospects. Thursday night the next name added to the list was 21-year-old lefty Mitch Bratt.
The 2021 fifth-round pick is MLB Pipeline’s 21st-ranked Rangers prospect and pitched for Canada in the World Baseball classic. This year he has pitched 77 and a third innings in High-A ball to the tune of a 3.03 ERA earning his chance to get the second-half call-up and make his AA debut.
Things got off to a rocky start Thursday as Bratt walked the first batter he saw on a 9-pitch at-bat, albeit on a questionable ball 4 call. However, that would not be a sign of things to come as Bratt would throw 5 scoreless innings of 1 hit ball. Bratt would only walk one other batter to pair with the 4 Strikeouts on the night, 2 via the high heat and 2 via the breaking ball. It was a sensational day for the young Southpaw who’ll no doubt be looking to recreate his success in his next outing and the rest of the 2024 season with Frisco.

Good Ole Fashioned Pitcher’s Duel
The game would come down to the wire as it was a pitcher’s duel until the end. The Mission’s own Austin Krob would throw 5 ⅔ of one run baseball and Raul Brito would be the only other pitcher they used in the game, pitching 3 ⅓ scoreless. Frisco would only need the one run scored on a Luis Mieses RBI double in the second Inning. As for your RoughRiders, Birlingmair, Ahlstrom, and Hales would come in to relieve Bratt throwing 4 scoreless innings and only allowing 1 hit with 4K’s. No Missions player would touch Second Base after the first inning as they only mustered 2 hits during Thursday’s game. Frisco’s pitching was truly the star in this showdown.
Chirpy in the 6th
Things took a turn for the wild side as in the 6th while Daniel Mateo was at the plate both sides got into a yelling match that eventually led to the benches clearing. This would lead to the eventual tossing of Rough Riders Development Coach Kawika Emsley-Pai, SS Alex De Goti, Manager Carlos Cardoza, and pitching coach Jon Goebel. For the Missions it was Manager Luke Montz, CF Connor Holis, and SS Ripken Reyes who’s night came to an abrupt end. There was certainly no lost love tonight between the teams as Frisco has had the Missions number all year.
It was a hard-fought win for Frisco as they hurled their way to the 19th win of the second half!
