The 24-year-old Round Rock Express outfielder, Bubba Thompson, got the call that every ball player dreams about.
I’d imagine for it to go something like this. Express Manager Matt Hagen says,” hey Bubba could you come into my office?”
“Bubba the Rangers are calling you up to the big leagues. Congratulations!”
Bubba Thompson was the Texas Rangers 1st round pick (26 overall) in the 2017 MLB draft from Mc Gill-Toolen Catholic in Mobile Alabama. Bubba has done more than anybody could ask for while playing for the Express. Sure, the strikeouts are still a little higher than you’d like but he’s hitting over .300 and has broken the team single-season record in stolen bases. He stole 49 bases out of 52 attempts.
Do you need a home run? The Rangers could use a few extras. Well Bubba was 2nd on the team with13, just behind Sam Huff’s 15. Bubba leads the team in Batting Avg with a .303 batting average, runs scored with 77 and RBI with 48.
Congratulations on your call up Bubba! It’s well deserved!
