The Texas Rangers’ No. 8 prospect, Caden Scarborough, has been recognized for his outstanding performance and rewarded with a promotion.

The 20-year-old right-hander has been named the Carolina League Pitcher of the Week for August 11-17. The honor comes after a dominant performance on August 14, where Scarborough pitched five no-hit innings against the Charleston RiverDogs, allowing just one walk and striking out seven.

Scarborough's strong season numbers with the Hickory Crawdads speak for themselves:

* 2-5 Win-Loss * 75 IP * 2.88 ERA * 19 BB * 95 SO * 0.92 WHIP

Among pitchers with at least 75 innings pitched, he ranks first in the league with a stellar 11.40 strikeouts per nine innings (95 strikeouts in 75 innings). He also ranks second with a 5.00 strikeout-to-walk ratio (95 strikeouts to 19 walks).

Fresh off his award, Scarborough has been promoted to High-A Hub City and is scheduled to make his debut this Thursday.

Here's a detailed breakdown of one of Caden Scarborough's previous starts.
