Day 2 of an offensive showing at the Frisco Classic
Day 2 would get under way with Sam Houston taking on Kansas St as both teams looked to bounce back after losing the previous day.
2nd and 3rd innings
The scoring would get started in the second inning when the Sam Houston Shortstop would sail a throw to first and allow 2 Wildcats to score giving them a 2-0 lead early. Then Kyan Lodice would single the run for a 3-0 lead.  The score in the 2nd would finish up when Kansas St would steal 2nd with runners at the corners and on the throw down to 2nd base Lodice would take advantage and score the 4th run of the inning.Â
The Bearkats would answer in the 3rd when Brady Christiensen singled in a pair of runs to cut the lead down to 2.Â
Wildcat Offense Breaks Loose
The Bearkats would keep on with the self inflicted injuries when a pickoff attempt to First would get sailed and allow the runner on 3rd to score making it a 5-2 ballgame in the 4th. The Wildcats would take on 5 in the 7th inning with a Maximus Martin 2 RBI Single and to cap off the inning, Keegan O’Connor would blast a 2 Run Homer giving the Wildcats a 10-2 lead in the 7th inning.
In the 8th Evasco would plate another in the 8th with an RBI single. The Wildcats would also finish out the game by going back to back when Kyan Lodice and Shintaro Inoue would both hit homers to right field.
Kansas St would win the game 14-3 avenging their heart breaking loss in the game 1 vs LSU
LSU vs Nebraska
Game 2 was one of the most electric games I’ve ever been to. It set a Frisco Classic Attendance Record of 11,003.
Huskers offense strikes early
The Huskers would strike first in the 3rd taking advantage of some missed pitches my Eyanson taking on 3 in the first with a Cayden Brumbaugh RBI single that was then followed by a Cael Frost 2 Run Single to put some early pressure on the Tigers.
LSU Offense wakes up
An RBI grounder would drive in a 4th for the Huskers in the 2nd and a RBI Single by Case Sanderson would make it 5-0 in the 3rd. The Huskers were really taking advantage of some missed spots on the mound making it tough for LSU.
Steven Milam would open up the scoring for LSU when in the 4th he would drive home Josh Person with an RBI Double. Chris Stanfield would cap off the 3 Run 4th with an RBI Single.
LSU pulls away
Milam would tie the game in the top of the 7th with an RBI single and it would snowball from there.
Jake Brown would then drive home Pearson with a sac fly
Chris Stanfield would get his 2nd RBI single of the game making it 7-5 Tigers.
A swinging bunt by Derek Curiel would then drive home another when the pitcher would bobble the ball and then wildly throw the ball home causing it to go to the backstop and allow another LSU Tiger to score making it 8-5
Jared Jones would wrap up the 6-Run 7th when he drove home 2 more on an RBI Single to center making it an 10-5 LSU ballgame.
Cayden Brumbaugh would get the final Nebraska run home when he hit an RBI Single in the 7th inning making it 10-6.
In the 9th inning the Tigers would take on one more with a bases loaded HBP to make it 11-6 and would then bring in Freshman William Schmidt to finish out the ballgame.
Final Thoughts
Overall it was a great offensive day at the Classic with 34 Runs crossing the plate over the course of the 2 games. The electric second game crowd was one of the most memorable things I’ve ever seen. Have to give a big shoutout to the LSU and Nebraska fan bases for showing out in Frisco and setting the attendance record. As always you can never count out the LSU offense and Nebraska found that out last night when LSU would score 10 unanswered runs. LSU will look to sweep the weekend and take the Classic title while Kansas St and Nebraska will look to finish the weekend with an above .500 record.
