Long Awaited Return
Last night was an exciting night down in Frisco as Rangers pitcher and 2x CY Young award winner Jacob deGrom made his much anticipated season debut where he was making his first rehab start since getting Tommy John in June 2023. DeGrom had been having bullpen sessions and threw to live hitters last week on his road to recovery. The Rangers are hoping to have him go in 4 or 5 rehab starts before getting brought back to pitch with the club.

deGrom picked up right where he left off and topped out at 100mph. After the game deGrom talked to the media stating that Everything felt great and just getting back out there was the most important thing. He also stated how working back the Curve will be for the offseason and he’s going to focus on his 3 best pitches to not put too much tension on his rehabbing arm. Next outing could be a potential 15 pitch jump for his next outing depending how his body responds to the workload Thursday night.

Mitch Bratt would come into the 3rd and relieve deGrom and he looked as sharp as could be. Bratt would retire the first 9 batters he faced and was absolutely rolling. Every Base Runner he allowed was in the 6th where he surrendered 3 walks and a hit allowing 2 runs to score but only one being earned. He would come back out for the 7th and retire them in order.
Offensive Fireworks
The Roughriders would score 5 runs on the night. Keyber Rodriguez, Cooper Johnson, and Cody Freeman all went yard in the game giving the fans a mini firework show in the process.
It was an exciting night and there was ample amounts of anticipation and excitement in the air as deGrom took the mound Thursday night. Frisco takes on San Antonio again Friday night. RHP Nick Krauth will take the mound for the RoughRiders. Max Scherzer was scratched from the start early Thursday night.
