Kohl Drake, Texas Rangers left-handed pitching prospect

Five Texas Rangers Prospects to Watch In 2025

Here’s a fun list of five Texas Rangers prospects to keep an eye on for the 2025 season—but this isn’t a definitive ranking of the farm system’s best.

Instead, I’m highlighting a pitcher who might make it to the Majors this year (Kohl Drake), a prospect who’s fallen out of the top 30 (Brock Porter), a power hitter who’s caught my eye (Arturo Disla), the son of a Hall of Famer (Pablo Guerrero), and a spring training standout who could get a call-up this season (Alejandro Osuna).

These guys are just a glimpse of the exciting talent in the Rangers’ pipeline, and I can’t wait to see what they do this year!

Kohl Drake, LHP

Kohl Drake is coming off an absolute monster of a year! The lefty tore through the minors in 2024, climbing from Low-A to High-A and even getting a quick taste of Double-A with the Frisco RoughRiders.

Across 106 innings—his career high—he posted a sparkling 2.29 ERA. Oh, and he led the entire Rangers farm system with 148 strikeouts while only walking 31 batters. That’s some nice control!

With a fastball that hits the mid to upper 90s, Drake’s electric stuff makes him a must-watch. I’ve got a feeling he’s about to take on a big role in the Rangers’ future pitching plans—2025 could be his breakout year! He’s a lefty so that works in his favor.

Arturo Disla, 1B

Arturo Disla has been on my radar since the Rangers signed him, and it’s easy to see why. This dude’s a powerhouse at 6’2” and 240 lbs, and he’s got the stats to back it up.

In 2024, he smashed .274/.349/.458/.808 with 19 homers and 71 RBIs between Low-A Down East and High-A Hickory—talk about some serious pop! He lit up the Australian Baseball League with the Melbourne Aces, hitting a ridiculous .400/.441/.782/1.223 with 6 dingers and 13 RBIs in just 14 games. He’s starting starting with the Spartanburgers but Disla will be headed for Double-A in 2025!

Pablo Guerrero, 1B/DH

Pablo Guerrero, the son of Hall of Famer and former Ranger Vladimir Guerrero, is making waves in his first full season of pro ball stateside—and I’m here for it!

The 18-year-old showed off his power in the Arizona Complex League, hitting .301/.367/.522/.888 with 7 homers and 38 RBIs. That’s some impressive thump for a teenager! Things got a bit tougher after his promotion to Low-A Down East, where he hit .227/.271/.289/.560 with 1 HR and 15 RBIs, but I’m not worried.

His early success proves he’s got the tools, and I’m stoked to see how he adjusts to a full season at Low-A in 2025. The Guerrero bloodline runs deep—this kid’s got big potential!

Brock Porter, RHP

Brock Porter’s 2025 season might just be the most pivotal of his young career, and I’m rooting for him to turn things around. The Rangers’ 4th-round pick in 2022 had a rough go in 2024, struggling between the Complex League and High-A Hickory with a 6.98 ERA over 19.1 innings. Ouch.

Once ranked as the Rangers’ No. 4 prospect in 2024, he’s dropped out of the top 30 for 2025, but I’m not giving up on him yet. At just 21, Porter’s got plenty of time to bounce back, and I’ve got high hopes he’ll rediscover that spark that made the Rangers draft him.

Alejandro Osuna, OF

Alejandro Osuna is a name you need to know—he’s been turning heads this spring, and I’ve been a fan since his time in Frisco! This outfielder had a stellar 2024 between High-A Hickory and Double-A Frisco, slashing .292/.362/.507/.869 with 18 homers and 61 RBIs. But his spring training performance? Absolute fire! He hit .424/.524/.697/1.221 with 1 HR, 7 RBIs, and even swiped a couple of bases, showing off his speed.

While Evan Carter and Wyatt Harris might get the first call-up since they’re on the 40-man roster, Osuna’s making a strong case to be next in line if the Rangers’ outfield needs a boost. This dude’s ready to make some noise in 2025!

Prospect development can be a wild ride—some of these guys might face bumps in the road, while others could soar past our expectations. Either way, I’ll be keeping tabs on the entire Rangers farm system for you in 2025. Stay locked into The Prospect Times for all the latest updates, and let’s cheer on these future stars as they chase their big-league dreams!
