The Texas Rangers farm system dealt with a significant blow as outfielder Anthony Gutierrez suffers a season-ending ACL injury during Hub City’s season opener.

Heartbreak in Hub City: Anthony Gutierrez Sidelined for 2026

Yesterday, we received some tough news regarding the Texas Rangers farm system. Jeff Wilson of DLLS reported that Anthony Gutierrez, the organization's No. 29 prospect, will miss the rest of the season due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

We have Gutierrez as no. 24 on our top 30 prospects list.

He suffered the injury during the Hub City Spartanburg season opener in an outfield collision with Paxton Kling. I was watching the game at the time he was pulled from the lineup. While the Rangers are seeking a second opinion, there isn’t much hope for a different diagnosis.

This injury definitely hurts, but it hurts Gutierrez the most. This was an important development year that has now been wiped out. Gutierrez has dealt with previous injuries throughout his career, though he was coming off a productive 2025.

Last season with Hub City, he played a career-high 89 games and slashed .258/.333/.320/.654 with two HRs and 28 RBIs. He also showed off his legit speed, stealing 48 bases.

The Texas Rangers originally signed Gutierrez as an international free agent on Jan. 15, 2022, for $1,997,500. Originally, he had planned on waiting until 2023 to sign with the Nationals but decided to accept the offer from Texas.

Across five minor league seasons, he has slashed .264/.331/.353/.684 with nine HRs, 107 RBIs, and 134 stolen bases.

The Prospect Times wishes Anthony Gutierrez a speedy and full recovery.
