The Frisco RoughRiders announced today that they will open the season with Jack Leiter and Owen White as their 1-2 punch. That’s probably the best 1-2 in the Texas League.
Jack Leiter is to start the RoughRiders home opener on Thursday, April 6 with Owen White to follow on Friday, April 7th.
The RoughRiders are offering a special promotion to honor their starts. Using code JACKOPACKO at checkout will get you a ticket and a $10 concession credit for only $22.14 (their jersey numbers).
Jack Leiter is the 5th ranked prospect according to MLB.com, we have him ranked 3rd.
The Rangers challenged Leiter last season with the aggressive assignment to Double-A. We did see flashes of dominance in most games but we also saw command issues. He definitely has swing and miss stuff as he fanned 109 batters in his 92.2 innings pitched.
We have Owen White as the top ranked pitching prospect in the Texas Rangers farm system. The key White is going to be staying healthy. When he is on the mound, he’s been dominant. Last season, he went 9-2 with a 3.59 ERA, striking out 104 batters in 80.1 innings between the High-A Hickory Crawdads and the Double-A Frisco RoughRiders.
As of now, it looks like Tekoah Roby will get the start on Saturday.
