Hub City Spartanburgers

The Spartanburgers pulled out a close 2-1 win against the Rome Emperors. Their pitching was fantastic as starter Josh Trentadue as he went 4.2 innings with one run against him on three hits with one walk and racked up six strikeouts.

The bullpen was shutdown after him and didn't allow a single run. Seth Clark, Eric Loomis, and Wilian Bormie combined for 4.1 innings. Clark got the win, Loomis got the hold and Bormie got the save.

Shortstop John Taylor got the scoring started with a solo shot in the third inning. Taylor would led the team in hits as he went 2 for 4 with a RBI. No. 15 prospect Anthony Gutierrez had a good day too as he went 1 for 3 with a pair of walks and he showed off his speed with four stolen bases bringing his season total up to 27.

Frisco Roughriders

The Roughriders lost 5-3 to the Armarillo Sod Poodles. Daniel Missaki got start and he was good. He went for four scoreless innings with two hits against him, with only one walk while racking up seven strikeouts.

No.11 prospect Abimelec Ortiz got the Roughriders on the board with a two-run homer that brought in Sebastian Walcott who walked right before him. It was Ortiz's 11th home run of the year.

Once Missaki left the game, the Sod Poodles got on the board. They got a two-run home run off of reliever Jackson Kelley. He would settle down in the sixth inning and would go scoreless.

No.16 prospect Cam Cauley would give the Roughriders the lead back with a solo shot in the fifth inning. It was his eighth of the year.

However, Josh Mollerus wouldn't be able to lock down the game as he allowed three runs and blew the save in the two innings that he appeared in. Ivan Melendez was the guy to turn the game on its head as he launched a three-run homer to give the Sod Poodles the win.

Round Rock Express

Jon Gray started his rehab after coming back from injury. He looked good going two innings with one hit, one run, no walks, and a strikeout. The only run came from a homer from San Hilliard who is someone that has spent a good amount of time in the MLB.

Kohl Drake, the Rangers No.10 prospect piggybacked off Gray and he looked great after a rough debut in triple A. He only lasted 3.1 innings in the first game and allowed four runs (three earned). Tonight he went five innings while allowing one run on one hit, two walks, and two strikeouts.

While you would like to see Drake strike out more hitters, it is good to see him limit damage. The run that came against him was a Drew Romo homer which was the first batter he faced.

Dustin Harris led the game off with a home run which was his seventh one of the year. Josh Jung would also pick up a hit to go 1 for 5 on the night. The Express would blow the game open in the fourth inning. Alan Trejo would get the scoring started with a RBI double, Konner Piotto would followed up with a two run home run, and Blake Crim would cap the inning off with a single that brought in Harris.

Codi Heuer would get the save. It was his third of the year.

Drake looked good in his second game in Triple A, hopefully he can continue this momentum and he could see himself in Arlington sooner rather than later especially if the team is out of playoff contention.
