The Rangers top pitching prospect has been moved up to Triple A.
Kumar Rocker has quickly made his way through Double A quickly after returning from Tommy John Surgery.
Rocker had a 0.46 ERA allowing just a singular run over 19.2 innings. He struck out 29 batters and only walked 3.
He utterly dominated hitters and flashed the upside that the Rangers saw in him at Vanderbilt.
He is the Rangers most promising pitching prospect in recent memory as both fans and writers have been blown away by the results of Rocker and they are excited to see where this promotion will take him.
Rocker’s journey to this point has been anything, but normal. He was originally picked 10th overall by the New York Mets, but due to some issues with his physical the two sides could not reach an agreement.
He ended going to independent ball where he pitched for the Tri City River Cats. Where he pitched to a 1.35 ERA and ended being picked 3rd overall in the 2022 MLB Draft.
He ended in High A Hickory with a 3.86 ERA and was working his way to a Double A promotion before disaster struck and Rocker ended up needing Tommy John Surgery.
He will not be reunited with his college teammate Jack Leiter as he was called up to the MLB. Rocker will take over his spot in the Round Rock Express Rotation.
Leiter and Rocker headline the new wave of Rangers pitchers trying to break the trend of the Rangers struggling to produce pitching.
The journey ahead will be exciting for both Rocker and Leiter as well as Rangers fans and we should enjoy the crazy ride that we are on.
The Rangers and Ranger fans alike are hoping that the next time that we see this pair of teammates in the same rotation will be with the big league team in Arlington.
