Player of the Month
Julian Brock was awarded the Rangers minor league Player of the Month award. The 23 year old Catcher was scorching single A pitching this month with the Down East Ducks. Brock had a slash line of .392/.418/.622 in August Accumulating 10 XBH and drove in 13 runs along the way. The 2023 8th Rounder also got at least 1 hit in 14 of his 10 appearances during the month. This was Brock’s best month of the season for Down East and finished the final month of the season strong and will look to take that swing into next season.
Reliever of the Month
Ryan Lobus was awarded the Rangers minor league Player of the Month award for August. Lobus was simply dominant in August with High-A Hickory. The righty appeared in 5 games for Hickory starting in 1 of them posting a 1.47 ERA in 18.1 innings. The 2023 undrafted Signee Struck out 35 batters while only walking 4. Lobus had such a successful August he earned a promotion to Double A Frisco to continue his season.
Defender of the Month
Aaron Zavala was awarded the Rangers minor league Defender of the Month. The former PAC 12 player of the year and Consensus All-American converted all 43 opportunities he had in the Outfield and had 4 Outfield assists Tying the Texas League lead. Zavala now has an .988 Fielding percentage on the year only giving up 2 errors.
Pitcher of the Month
Was there any doubt as to who would get the Rangers Minor League Pitcher of the Month? Kumar Rocker was rewarded the award and has earned a promotion to the big league. You kind of feel like a broken record talking about the 24-year-old’s dominance but that’s just a testament to how good he has been. Rocker posted a microscopic 0.42 ERA in the 5 starts he made between Frisco and Round Rock. The two-time top 10 pick struck out 35 batters and only walked 3. He blew through each level he pitched at earning the award for August, and having the 3rd lowest ERA in the minors(min. 20 IP) finishing the month with a 5-inning start in Round Rock where he only allowed 1 hit and Struck out 10 batters.
