Yesterday the Rangers made additional moves with their roster, optioning Taylor Hearn and Nick Gardewine to Nashville.
With each move the rosters of each affiliate are becoming more clear. Let’s take a closer look at who the Rangers optioned going to the new Triple-A affiliate, the Nashville Sounds.
Taylor Hearn (LHP)
Taylor Hearn is legit talented and one of the nicest people you will meet. He will be in Arlington at some point this year but was just optioned to Triple-A.
Hearn was the prospect the Rangers received in the Keone Kela trade.
This Spring Hearn pitched 4 innings allowing 5 runs on 5 hits and has an earned run average of 11.25.
Last year with the RoughRiders, Hearn pitched 25 innings having an earned run average of 5.04. He walked 9 while striking out 33 and a WHIP of 1.520. With the Pirates his numbers were better as he had a 3.55 earned run average in 104 innings and striking out 107.
We will keep you posted on his progress in Nashville.
Nick Gardewine (RHP)
This Spring he pitched 2.2 innings allowing 4 hits but allowed no runs. His WHIP was 1.500.
In 2017 Gardewine debuted with the Rangers and pitched 8 innings to a tune of a 5.63 earned run average.
Last year Gardewine pitched 5 innings for the Rangers and had a 3.60 earned run average. His WHIP was 1.400 but did not walk a batter in those 5 innings.
