Recap of Day 3 and LSU taking the Frisco Classic Title
The final day of the Frisco Classic got started off at 11am where Kansas St and Nebraska would face off in hopes of coming out of the weekend with an above .500 score and to leave Frisco on a positive note.
Kansas St. vs Nebraska Â
Seth Dardar and K-State would get things going early with an RBI Single to left field that would plate Maximus Martin in the 1st giving the Wildcats a 1-0 lead. The never next inning Maximus Martin would capitalize and get another 2 out hit when he singled home the runner from 2nd giving Kansas St. a 2-0 lead
In the bottom of the inning Nebraska would plate their first run on a wild curveball in the dirt cutting the lead down to 1-2.
Kansas St would once again show the offense is fire power when freshman AJ Evasco used the wind pushing out to left to send one out to the first row of the hoke run terrace driving in one runner and giving them a 4-1 lead. The very next batter Keegan O’Connor would send a hanging breaking ball into orbit when he hit it at 111 mph off the bat and 480 feet out of the ballpark. The Home Run also marked the 3rd time the Wildcats had gone back to back.
The Wildcats would plate one more in the 5th and 2 more in the 6th extending the lead to 8-1 and were riding high thanks to a 6.1 IP and 2 ER performance by Lincoln Sheffield.
Nebraska would not be done however. Dylan Carey would hit his first home run of the season in the 7th inning and would get an RBI Single the very next inning making it 8-3.
Maximus Martin would go yard for K-State putting a cap on his fantastic weekend and receiving praise for him moving up to the leadoff spot for the game and doing so well.
Nebraska would then score 2 final runs on a Devin Nunez inside the park home run making it a 9-6 ballgame and would be the final score.
Overall both offensives were firing but too many little mistakes and 2 out runs really cost Nebraska and led K-State to leave Frisco with 2-2 Record and they hit 8 home runs over the weekend after having just 8 in the 6 prior games.
LSU vs Sam HoustonÂ
LSU would look to sweep the weekend series and officially be crowned the champions of the Frisco Classic for the 3rd time.
It didn’t take long for LSU bats to get going as LSU would plate 7 Run in the 2nd inning on 6 hits. Steven Milam would start things off as he roped a ball into the left field corner for a home run. Then after a Jared Jones 2 on and 2 out 2 Run Double, Ethan Frey would send his second Homer of the season over the fence for a 3 Run Jimmy Jack capping off the 7 Run 2nd making it a commanding 7-0 for the Tigers.
The Bearkats finally got some offense going as Parker Blackman would chop an RBI Single the opposite way, Blackman would then swipe 2nd and score on a Hunter Autrey single making it 7-2 in the 3rd.
LSU would go back on the attack as on top of a Derek Curiel RBI Double in the 3rd and a Luis Hernandez RBI single in the 4th. The Tigers would add 4 more in those innings making it an 11-3 ballgame through 4.
Sam Houston would once again not stand down as they would plate 4 Runs in the 6th Inning but after that inning LSU’s bullpen would slam the door shut as Cooper Williams, Connor Benge, DJ Primeaux, Maverick Rizy, and Jaden Noot would combine for 4 Innings, 0 Hits, 5 BB, 1 K and 0 Runs. They held the Bearkats to weak contact and were just what the Dr ordered versus a hot Sam Houston lineup and gave the Tigers the sweep of the weekend and would officially crown them the Frisco Classic Champions. They even had a little post game celebration inside the Lazy River when the team decide to have a little dip in the water!
It was an electric weekend in Frisco and no one took advantage of the atmosphere like LSU did. Their crowd’s were by far the most rowdy of the 4 teams and the LSU faithful got rewarded with 31 Run in the 3 games played over the weekend. For the third time LSU are taking home the title after a great weekend of baseball.
This weekend also saw the biggest attendance draw for one game in the LSU vs Nebraska game with 11,003 along with the overall attendance for the weekend with 25,054 fans coming through to cheer on these 4 teams.
2025 surely was a special one for the Classic and we can’t wait to see the 4 teams to be named for next years!
