The Frisco RoughRiders are on a tear, and Amarillo’s Hodgetown Stadium is paying the price. After five games of this six-game set, Frisco has outscored the Sod Poodles 44-22, and their bats are just getting hotter.
Let’s dive into the action from a wild 18-1 victory where the RoughRiders set multiple season highs.
A Night of Firsts
Frisco’s offense exploded for a season-high 18 runs, 21 hits, and 7 home runs—yes, seven!
Every hitter in the lineup got in on the action, with six players racking up multi-hit games. It was one of those magical nights where everything clicked.
Sebastian Walcott blasts his first Double-A HR
One of the standout moments came from Sebastian Walcott, the Rangers’ top prospect, who hammered his first Double-A home run. At just 18, Walcott is the youngest player in franchise history, and he’s already turning heads in his limited action. He capped off the night going 2-for-6 with a homer and 4 RBI, showing why he’s a rising star in the system.
Abimelec Ortiz hit 2 HR’s in back-to-back games
Not to be outdone, Abimelec Ortiz continued his power surge, going deep twice for the second consecutive game. That’s a first for him in his pro career, and he finished going 5-for-6 with 5 RBI.
Pitching Steals the Show Too
On the pitching side, Ryan Lobus (1-0, 3.00) earned his first Double-A win, pitching two scoreless innings out of the bullpen, allowing just one hit while striking out three.
He’s been a strikeout machine this season with 134 strikeouts in 94.1 innings.
Emiliano Teodo also made his first appearance out of the bullpen this season, tossing a scoreless inning. The RoughRiders’ bullpen was rock solid all night, shutting down any hope Amarillo had of a comeback.
