RoughRiders Drop Heartbreaker on Throwback Night

On a vibrant Throwback Night at Riders Field, graced by the presence of former Rangers/RoughRiders players Elvis Andrus, Matt Harrison, and Craig Gentry, the Frisco RoughRiders (40-34, 2-4 second half) fell 8-7 to the Tulsa Drillers in the series finale on Sunday, June 29, 2025.
Supak Shines, Bullpen Stumbles
RHP Trey Supak delivered a quality start, his third of the season, keeping Frisco in control early:
- 6 IP, 2 R, 5 H, 1 BB, 8 SO, 91/62 strikes
- June ERA: 2.28 (3rd in Texas League, min. 25 IP).
The bullpen faltered, with the Drillers erupting for 6 runs in the 8th:
- RHP Travis MacGregor (3.38 ERA): 1 IP, 1 BB, 1 SO, 11th hold (leads MiLB)
- LHP Avery Weems: 0.1 IP, 5 R, 3 H, 2 BB, 17/9 strikes
- RHP Gavin Collyer (4-4, 3.28 ERA): 1.2 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 3 SO, 30/21 strikes, took loss
Offense Falls Short
OF Marcus Smith’s 3-run HR in the 4th gave Frisco a 3-2 lead, and a 4-run 7th made it 7-2, but the lead slipped away. Key performers:

Round Rock Express (38-43)
The Round Rock Express walked off the Tacoma Rainiers at Dell Diamond. Dustin Harris went 3-for-5 with 2 HR (5th on season), including a 3-run walk-off HR in the 9th, and 4 RBI.
Billy McKinney went 2-for-4 with 1 RBI and 1 run. Trevor Hauver went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI.
RHP Cory Abbott (8.60 ERA) started, pitching 3 innings, allowing 2 runs, 1 hit, 4 walks, and 1 strikeout.
RHP Aidan Anderson (5.40 ERA) threw 2 innings, allowing 2 runs, 3 hits, and 1 walk. RHP Peyton Gray (2.48 ERA) pitched 2 innings, allowing 1 hit and striking out 1.
RHP Craig Kimbrel threw 1 inning, striking out 1 (14/9 strikes).
RHP Codi Heuer (3-2, 2.81 ERA) earned the win.
Hub City Spartanburgers (35-39)
The Hub City Spartanburgers walked off the Aberdeen IronBirds with 3 runs in the 9th.
RHP Jose Gonzalez started, pitching 5 innings, allowing 3 runs, 4 hits, 1 walk, and striking out 7 (68/49 strikes, 17 swinging misses).
RHP Adonis Villavicencio (4.23 ERA) threw 2 innings, allowing 1 unearned run and 1 walk (25/13 strikes, 1 swinging miss).

Hickory Crawdads (40-34)
The Hickory Crawdads swept a doubleheader against the Salem Red Sox.
In Game 1 (3-0 win), RHP David Hagaman started, pitching 3 innings, issuing 1 walk and striking out 2 (39/24 strikes).
RHP Brock Porter earned the win, throwing 3 scoreless innings, allowing 1 hit, 1 HBP, and striking out 2 (32/20 strikes, 7 swinging misses).
RHP Jesus Gamez (0.75 ERA) pitched a scoreless 7th, striking out 2 for his 2nd save.
Pablo Guerrero went 0-for-2 with 1 RBI (sac fly) and 1 walk.
Juan Sulbaran went 2-for-3. Erick Alvarez (.213) went 1-for-2 with 1 RBI and 1 walk.
In Game 2 (8-0 win), all 8 runs came in the 2nd, led by Yeremy Cabrera’s grand slam (3rd HR), finishing 2-for-4 with 4 RBI and 1 SB (22nd). Esteban Mejia and Ben Hartl each had 2 hits.
Devin Fitz-Gerald went 1-for-1 with 3 walks and 1 SB.
