Drillers at RoughRiders

The RoughRiders start a 3-game series tonight at 7:05 PM CST against the Tulsa Drillers. The Drillers are the Double-A team of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Their Triple-A team is in Oklahoma City – the OKC Dodgers. Greg caught up with the Sounds hitting coach, Howard Johnson, when they were in town last month.

The RoughRiders have a record of 32-31 and have just a 1/2 game lead over the Corpus Christi Hooks at 31-31.

At home at Dr Pepper Ballpark the RoughRiders have a record of 14-16 while on the road 18-14.

I am hoping to do series Previews from.now until the rest of the year. Let’s take a look at the pitching Matchups for this series with the Drillers.

Starting Pitcher: Edgar Arredondo?RHP

(5-2, 4.83 ERA)

Arredondo has a record of 2-1 with a 5.63 earned run average at Dr Pepper Ballpark. In Day games he is 1-1 with a 3.86 earned run average in 3 games started. He last pitched on June 5th in Amarillo against the Sod Poodles.

Starting Pitcher: Victor Gonzalez, LHP

Gonzalez was recently promoted from Single-A to Double-A. In Single-A ball he had a 2-1 record with an earned run average of 1.65 in 8 games- 5 starts. His last start was on June 5th as well against the Springfield Cardinals and he got the win.

(2-4, 5.63 earned run average)

Hernandez is ranked in the top 10 of the Texas Rangers Prospects, at # 8 according to MLB. I am a huge fan of Hernandez’s?and will be there in person for this one.

At home Hernandez has a 1-1 record with a 3.58 earned run average. In Day games he has a 1-2 record with a 8.44 earned run average.

His last game line: 5 IP, 4 R, 9 H, 2 BB, 4 SO

Drillers

Starting Pitcher: Dustin May, RHP

(2-5, 4.45 earned run average)

May is ranked as the # 3 Prospect in the Dodgers farm system according to MLB.com. He was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2016 draft out of Justin, Tx. May stands at 6’6 and 180 LBS. Away from home he has a 2-2 record with a 3.38 earned run average.

His last games line: 2.2 IP, 6 R, 3 ER, 8 H, 1 SO

Game 3: Thursday June 13th at 7:05 PM CST

Starting Pitcher: Ronald Herrera, RHP

(0-0, 3.60 earned run average)

Herrera was recently sent from Nashville to Frisco.

He made his MLB debut with the Yankees on June 14, 2017 against the Angels. In his debut he pitched 2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits, 1 walk and? 2 strikeouts. He pitched in 2 MLB games.

With Nashville he made 7 starts for Nashville and had a record of 0-4 with a 15.34 earned run average. He’s only made 1 start for Frisco and that was against the Midland RockHounds on June 7th

Drillers

Starting Pitcher: Ben Holmes, LHP

Holmes was pitching for the Oklahoma City Dodgers but went 1-4 with a 6.32 earned run average. He was assigned to the Drillers and has pitched in 3 games. Away he has an earned run average of 4.50 and in Day games he has a 7.20 ERA.
