Top Cardinals players
Catcher Ivan Herrera is the # 3 ranked prospect in the Cardinals farm system. Over his last 10-games he is hitting .219/.364/.344 with 1 home run, 11 RBI, 9 walks and 7 strikeouts.
3rd Baseman Malcom Nunez is their # 13 ranked prospect. He just played his 1st AA game on June 30th and slashing a line of .250/.333/.375/.708 with 2 home runs, 4 RBI, 6 walks and 16 strikeouts.
Luken Baker is ranked # 14 and hitting .212/.289/.415/.703 with 11 home runs, 31 RBI, 25 walks and 69 strikeouts in his 57 games.
Right-hander, Andre Pallante is the highest ranked pitcher at # 20 on the Cardinals roster. In 13 starts, he has a 3-3 record with a 3.10 earned run average. He’s issued 32 walks and struckout 50 batters in his 58 innings pitched.
RoughRiders players to watch
There will be at least two new faces in Frisco in Catcher Sam Huff, who is on a rehab assignment and pitcher Cole Ragans who was just promoted from High-A Hickory. So obviously all eyes will be on the Huff and Ragans. You can add Nick Snyder in there as well.
Bubba Thompson just had a 15-game on-base streak come to an end but he has put together a solid season. Health has always been the key for him and continues to be so. Over the season he has slashed .272/.340/.464/.805 with 7 home runs, 28 RBI, 19 walks and 65 strikeouts.
You always have to keep an eye on the teams home run leader. Josh Stowers leads the team in home runs with 11 on the season. In May he hit for an average of .069 and raised that to .268 in June with his 8 home runs that month. His batting average has cooled a little in July at .222 with two home runs. Look for him to heat up again against the Cardinals pitching staff.
Cole Winn has just been dominant on the mound. He leads the Double-A in WHIP at 0.75 and a .115 BAA.
Hans Crouse has looked pretty good in his last couple of outings. Especially consider he’s working on a couple of pitches. The start before last, Crouse had a no-hitter until the 6th inning.
