Surprise Saguaros move to 2-2
The Surprise Saguaros move to 2-2 after losing 6-4 to the Desert Dogs. With this win the Desert Dogs move to 3-1.
Right-hander James Marinan of the Cincinnati Reds got the start for the Saguaros and he faced off against right-hander Robinson Pina (Angels) for the Desert Dogs.
Right-hander Tim Brennan (0-1, 20.25) of the Texas Rangers was the first out of the pen for the Saguaros and ultimately was tagged with the loss. He pitched 1.1 innings and allowed 4 runs, 3 earned on 4 hits and 2 walks.
Right-hander Chad Donato (1-0, 9.00) with the Astros organization earned the win. He pitched three innings put of the bullpen for the Desert Dogs and allowed 3 runs on 4 hits, a walk, and 3 strikeouts.
At the plate
Ivan Johnson (Reds) went 2-4 for a home run and 2 RBI. His first RBI came in the bottom of the 3rd with his RBI single. His home run came in the bottom of the 8th. It was a solo shot to right field.
Ezequiel Duran (Rangers) manned the hot corner and went 2-3 with 2 runs. One of his hits was triple in the bottom of the 5th. He’s hitting .250 with a .750 OPS.
Johnson and Duran were the only two hitters in the Saguaros line-up with a multi-hit game.
Sam Huff has yet to record a hit during the AFL. He went 0-4 with two strikeouts and had a fielding error.
The team scored 4 runs on 7 hits, 2 walks and struckout 10 times.
