Ricky Vanasco makes AA Debut
Frisco, TX - Ricky Vanasco was promoted from the High-A Hickory Crawdads to the Frisco RoughRiders on Friday September 9th. He got the starting nod as the RoughRiders continue their pursuit of a post-season spot. It also happened to be the RoughRiders last home-game of the season. Vanasco has long been a favorite of mine so I took the opportunity to go see him in person. A crowd of 5,086 got to see a little of everything from the RoughRiders. The Surprise Saguaros have dominated the Arizona Fall League so far. The won in walk-off fashion against the Rafters by a final of 8-7 and move to 10-3. Royals pitching prospect, Asa Lacy started for the Saguaros. The left-hander tossed three scoreless innings, giving up two hits, two walks and striking out five batters. Tommy John surgery is something that seems to be a common thing for Ranger fans to hear in recent years. Right-hander Ricky Vanasco, one of our favorite Rangers pitching prospects and is scheduled to have Tommy John surgery on Monday morning. Ricky has been at the alternate training site since being added to the 60-man player pool. Vanasco has risen up the Rangers prospect rankings in the system over the last year.
