Texas Rangers Affiliates Recap 7/26/24

Down East Wood Ducks

The Wood Ducks swept a double header against the Fayetteville Woodpeckers (Houston Astros’ affiliate). They took the first game by a score of 3 to 2.

Marco Torres provided all of the offense for the Wood Ducks as he hit a 3 run homer in the bottom of the 5th. It was Torres’ 4th home run of the season. He is the Rangers’ 24th rated prospect according to MLB.com.

The Wood Ducks’ pitching took care of the rest of it as they limited the Woodpeckers to 5 hits.

Kolton Curtis went 3 scoreless innings allowing 1 hit, walked 2 and struck out 3. He lowered his ERA to 3.05 with this performance.

Wilian Bormie picked up the win going 4 innings while allowing 2 runs on 4 hits to go along with a walk and 3 strikeouts.

In the second game, the Wood Ducks won 1-0.

Brayan Mendoza got the win. He went 5 scoreless innings with 4 hits and 5 strikeouts.

Victor Simeon picked up a 2 inning save to close the game.

The one run came on a strike out wild pitch, that allowed Arturo Disla to score.

Hickory Crawdads

The Crawdads took a tough loss as they lost 10-0 to the Greenville Drive (Boston Red Sox Affiliate).

D.J McCarty took the loss as 3 unearned runs were scored against him in 1.2 innings.

Rangers’ top prospect Sebastian Walcott went 1 for 3 in the loss.

Frisco Roughriders

The Roughriders drew most eyes Friday night. They were headlined by Kumar Rocker, Josh Jung, and Cody Bradford.

Kumar Rocker made his double A debut and he dazzled. He struck out 4 batters over 3 innings while allowing 1 hit.

Rocker is the Rangers’ top rated pitching prospect and he showed why.

Josh Jung continued his rehab in Frisco as he collected a hit.

The Rangers are excited to get Jung back as they have been missing him since the first week of the season.

Another player that the Rangers desperately want back, Cody Bradford made a rehab start too. He went 2.2 innings allowing a hit with 2 strikeouts.

The Roughriders ended up falling 2-0 to the Tulsa Drillers (Los Angeles Dodgers’ Affiliate).

Rangers’ fans will be excited to see if Rocker can build on this start.

Round Rock Express

The Express’ game got suspended after only making it to the top of the 4th.

However, they led 3-0 against the Albuquerque Isotopes (Colorado Rockies’ affiliate)

Ezequiel Duran led the way as he went 2-2 with 2 runs scored.

Dustin Harris, Davis Wendzel, and Trevor Hauver all collected RBIs.

Steven Jennings went 3 innings allowing 1 hit with 3 strikeouts.
