Everyone loves tracking a promising pitching prospect, and the Texas Rangers have several we’ll discuss in the future. Today, the spotlight is on Texas Rangers pitching prospect Emiliano Teodo, who has been causing headaches for hitters in the Texas League all season.
Last night, he pitched 5.2 scoreless innings. His line for the night: 5.2 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 7 SO, 86/56 strikes, 1.71 ERA. Teodo used his fastball sparingly, focusing more on his slider and changeup. His final line included 7 strikeouts, 2 hits, 2 walks, and 12 swinging strikes (1 on the fastball, 3 on the changeup, and 8 on the slider). Nothing was squared up against him.
Here are some stats from Emiliano Teodo‘s impressive season:
- Win-Loss Record: 5-2
- Innings Pitched: 68.1
- ERA: 1.71
- Walks: 34
- Strikeouts: 89
- Batting Average Against: .183
- WHIP: 1.13
Teodo’s fastball can regularly reach triple digits. Except for his first start of the season, he hasn’t allowed more than two runs in a game, maintaining this streak for 13 consecutive starts.
He performs slightly better at home (Riders Field), boasting a 4-0 record with a 1.19 ERA in 7 games at Riders Field. On the road, he holds a 1-2 record with a 2.35 ERA in 7 games.
Teodo has been particularly tough against left-handed hitters, holding them to a .169 batting average, while right-handed hitters manage just a .191 average against him.
This season has been fantastic for Teodo. While he has shown remarkable potential, it would be beneficial to see a few more starts with limited walks before considering a promotion to Triple-A, which seems to be on the horizon.
