Hickory Crawdads
Game 1: The Crawdads won the first game of the double header 4-2 against the Hillcats and only played a seven inning game. Garrett Horn started the game and allowed two runs on four hits with no walks and three strikeouts. Thomas Ireland got the win as he held the Hillcats scoreless with four hits against him and racked up a pair of strikeouts.
The bats got going in the second inning with a single from Marco Torres and a RBI double play by Wady Mendez. They would score in the next two innings too. Yeremy Cabera would have a RBI single in the third inning to score Maxton Martin and Esteban Mejia would add on a RBI single to bring Torres in.
Game 2: The Crawdads swept the second game of the series as they won 4-3. Beycker Barroso got the scoring started with a sacrifice fly to bring Martin in. Erick Alvarez continued the scoring with a double. Pablo Guerrero capped the inning with a double that scored two runs and brought the run up to four runs.
That was all that the Crawdads needed. Brooks Fowler was great allowing one run on six hits with one walk and struck out five in five innings. Adrian Rodriguez closed out the game with a two inning save allowing two runs in those two innings.
Hub City Spartanburgers
The Spartanburgers crushed the Emperors 10-2 and took 3 out of 4 from them. The Spartanburgers' offense got out to a quick start scoring six runs in the first two innings and put the Emperors in a tough spot. No.15 prospect Anthony Gutierrez continued his torrid run over the Emperors and had another multi hit game as he logged a trio of hits with a RBI. He almost stole his 31st base of the season.
No.7 prospect Dylan Dreiling helped out the offense too as he logged three hits of his own with two RBIs. This a good development for the young outfielder as he has only hit .216 this year. This could be the spark that he needs to move forward. Julian Brock had three hits too and like Dreiling he also had two RBIs.
Gledier Figuereo and Yeison Morrobel both went yard and both had two hits. Figuereo hit his 15th home run of the year and had three RBIs. It was Morrobel's fifth homer of the year and had two RBIs.
The Spartanburgers went with a bullpen game and it was successful. Dalton Pence was the opener with three innings under his belt while giving up four hits and a run against him. Mailon Felix went one inning and allowed a run while giving up a hit which seems weird if you just look at it. He did walk a pair of batters and hit a pair which forced a run in.
D.J McCarty had the bulk of the work as he completed five scoreless innings with four hits coming against him, he allowed two walks and struck out six in his effort. He got the win for the Spartanburgers.
Frisco Roughriders
The Roughriders won 4-1 against the Sod Poodles. Josh Hatcher accounted for nearly half of the team's hits as they racked up eight total hits and Hatcher had three by himself. He scored two runs and knocked in a run.
Keith Jones ll was the other player who had a multi hit game going 2 for 3 with a run scored and a RBI. A Marcus Smith RBI single and a fielding error in the ninth inning gave the Roughriders insurance runs to feel safe.
David Davaillo went a solid 4.2 innings with the lone run coming against him being on a home run as well as four hits. He walked none and struck out six. Larson Kindreich got the win throwing a scoreless 2.1 innings allowed a hit and a walk while he struck out two hitters. Nick Krauth got the two inning save holding the Sod Poodles scoreless as he worked around three hits and he struck out one.
Round Rock Express
The Round Rock Express won a crazy game in 11 innings. Kellen Strahm hit a walk-off single to win the game 9-8.Strahm didn’t even start the game, he entered in the bottom of the eighth as a pinch runner for Rowdy Tellez. He would end the game 1 for 1 with the game winning hit and a walk.
The Express almost didn’t make it to the 11th as they were down 8-5 in the 10th inning. Strahm started that rally with the walk mentioned before.Cody Freeman singled to load the bases and a wild pitch would bring the ghost runner, Justin Foscue home while moving the other runners into scoring position.
A Blake Crim double would tie the game up and allow the game to continue into the 11th. The Express could have ended the game sooner though, after the Crim double, the next batter was hit by a pitch which loaded the bases with no outs.
However, the Express couldn’t bring the runner in with Josh Jung flying out to end the inning. This was a game to forget for Jung with a 0 for 6 with three strikeouts. Jung is only hitting .200 with Round Rock.
Dustin Harris led the Express with three hits and a RBI. Rowdy Tellez hit another home run, a two run shot and his second of season with the Express. He had another hit besides the homer and is hitting .333.
The Exoress used a variety of pitchers to win this one. Ryan Garcia was the first guy out and allowed a pair of runs in two innings on two hits with three walks while striking out two.
Florencio Serrano was the next guy up with one run given up in 2.2 innings on a pair of hits with a walk and three punch outs. Dane Acker allowed an unearned run in 1.1 innings as well as a trio of hits, a walk and racked up three strikeouts.
Luis Curvelo had a clean inning with no hits or walks while striking out two. Skyler Hales was charged with the blown save as he allowed one run on one hit in his two innings.
Codi Heuer had a rough 10th as he couldn’t get through the inning only getting two outs while allowing three runs on two hits with a walk and two strikeouts. Craig Kimbrel was called upon to get out of the inning and he did.
