Today is the last game for the Somerset Patriots and Billy Layne Jr

Former Rangers prospect, Billy Layne Jr., has been pitching out of the bullpen for the Somerset Patriots. They have only played on Friday and Saturday nights and tonight is the last night.

If you’re new here, Layne Jr was one of my favorite prospects. We were lucky enough to do an interview with him and he’s just a nice down to earth guy with a sense of humor. He’s also got talent. He is actually leading the Somerset Patriots with a 0.90 earned run average in 10 innings pitched. He’s allowed 1 run on 3 hits, 3 walks and has struck out 11 batters. Opponents are hitting .086 against him currently.

The Patriots feature players from mostly the New Jersey area and have an 8-4 record. They play at TD Bank Ballpark which has been named Ballpark Digest?s Best Independent Minor League Ballpark in recent years.
