Sebastian Walcott in the Arizona Complex League

Where Do The Rangers Sit MLB Pipeline’s Farm System Rankings?

MLB Pipeline has come out with their ranking for all 30 teams farm systems. Where do the Rangers sit in these rankings? MLB Pipeline has them at 19th. At first I thought that ranking was too low, but after I looked at some teams that were ranked above them it seems about right to me. The ranking I’m thinking took a little hit when Alejandro Rosario needed to get elbow surgery. Here is what MLB Pipeline said in the article,” While injuries dropped the Rangers from World Series champions in 2023 to 78 victories in ’24, they did have a productive year on the farm. Walcott emerged as one of the best prospects in baseball — and might be the very best after the 2025 season. Texas had a lot of developmental successes with pitchers as Rocker, Jack Leiter and Marc Church reached the Majors, while Winston Santos and Emiliano Teodo are on the verge of doing so. Some scouts thought right-hander Alejandro Rosario was better than all of them, but he blew out his elbow this February and had Tommy John surgery.”

While that ranking may not get people excited about the future I am excited about the pitchers we have coming. Emiliano Teodo, Kumar Rocker, Jack Leiter, Alejandro Rosario, Winston Santos, Jose Corniell who is someone some people forget about because he didn’t pitch last year. Along with Lefties Kohl Drake, Mitch Bratt, and Bryan Magdaleno. Lastly, right handed pitchers Izack Tiger, Skylar Hales, Marc Church, David Davalillo, Ryan Lobus, Kolton Curtis who has the best change-up grade in the system, and 12th round selection in 2023 draft Paul Bonzagni who has pitched well in the minors for 2 years. I would also like to note that Caden Scarborough the Rangers number 28 prospect has been the most talked about player in the minor league camp, according to Evan Grant in an article he published on march 6th.

The Rangers also have some underrated position players prospects in my opinion. The three that are my favorite that not a lot of people talk about are Yolfran Castillo, Braylin Morel, and not a top 30 prospect for us being son of Vladimir Guerrero Sr and brother of Vladimir Guerrero Jr the Rangers have Pablo Guerrero who had a big jump in exit veto last year. Yolfran Castillo is a guy that won’t hit a lot of home runs but he has elite bat to ball skills. Braylin Morel has shown good power in his first two years of pro ball. The Rangers also have guys like Malcolm Moore, Paulino Santana who has gotten Julio Rodriguez comparisons, and Abimelec Ortiz who has a big bat though had a down year last year because of a slow start but heated up towards the end.

All I’m saying is that the Rangers may not have a great farm system like the teams that were top 5, but it definitely isn’t a bad farm system by any means.
