Wood Ducks pitcher, 20-year-old Joseph Montalvo, a 2021 20th-round pick of the Texas Rangers, was named the Carolina League Pitcher of the Week for April 24-30.
The right-hander from Central Pointe Christian in Kissimmee, Florida, is 2-0 with a 2.77 ERA in three appearances (one start) this season. In 13 innings, he struck out 16 and walked nine.
In his lone start (April 25th), Montalvo pitched six innings of one-hit ball, striking out six and walking two. He did not allow a run. This performance earned his pitcher of the week honors.
