Right handed pitcher, Zak Kent, was promoted to the Frisco RoughRiders. Kent, 23, has had an incredible season with the Texas Rangers High-A affiliate, the Hickory Crawdads. So after losing a guy like Hans Crouse, this Frisco rotation gets another boost.
He’s got a 6-2 record with a 2.83 earned run average. In 60.1 innings, he’s given up 46 hits and 15 for a 1.011 WHIP. Batters have struckout 78 times against him and he averages 11.6 strikeouts per nine innings while only walking an average of 2.2 per nine. Overall, batters hit .206/.261/.300/.562 at the plate.
When someone promotes, it means someone else at that level is promoting to the next level, someone is getting sent to a lower level or going on the IL. In this case Jake Latz got promoted to Triple-A Round Rock.
Jake Latz, 25, has spent the season in Double-A with the RoughRiders. In 15 games/13 starts he’s compiled a 1-1 record with a 4.69 earned run average. Opposing batters have a line of .233/.317/.407/.724 at the plate. May was his best month statistic-wise. Batters had a line of .091/.194/.109/.303 at the plate. I think given his age, this move makes perfect sense for Jake and wish him the best of luck in Triple-A.
