Huge congratulations to each of A.J. Alexy, Yerry Rodriguez, Nick Snyder, and Sherten Apostel for their promotion to Triple-A Round Rock. None of these promotions really come as a surprise. Of the four players, Nick Snyder is the only one that is not on the Texas Rangers 40-man roster.
AJ Alexy: RHP
AJ Alexy had been money this season on the mound for the RoughRiders. Remember, AJ Alexy was part of the deal that sent Yu Darvish to the Dodgers. Turns out that ALexy may be a huge pick-up for the Rangers.
In 13 games, 7 of which have been starts, Alexy has a 1.61 earned run average over 50.1 innings. He’s issued 22 walks and struckout 57 giving up 30 hits for a 1.013 WHIP. Opposing batters are slashing a line of .174/.278/.279/.557 against him. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit to see him make his debut in Arlington this season being that he is on the 40-man.
Yerry Rodriguez: RHP
The month of May was the worst one for Rodriguez. In 10.1 innings he posted a 4.35 earned run average. Over 5 starts in June with 19.1 total innings he had a 2.79 earned run average. In July, across 5 starts and 21.2 innings he had a 1.66 earned run average.
Batters hit a line of. 205/.300/.281/.582 against him with right-handed batters hitting .177/.268/.262/.530.
Nick Snyder: RHP
Nick Snyder throw the gas and I love his presence on the mound. He hits in the triple digits consistently and does so for strikes. He’s definitely a big-leaguer.
In his 16.1 innings in Frisco, he walked one batter and struckout 25 and gave up 12 hits for a 0.796 WHIP. He’ll be a valuable arm coming out of the bullpen.
I’m going to miss seeing Snyder throwing the heat in Frisco!
Sherten Apostel: 3B/1B
The biggest issue for Sherten Apostel has been staying off the IL. That seems to be a tall order for him in an otherwise ok season. In 42 games in Frisco he slashed a line of .236/.317/.419/.736 with 6 home runs and 20 RBI. He worked 17 walks and struckout 52 times so he’ll still be looking to cut down on the strikeouts and work a few more walks.
Alexy, Rodriguez and Apostel are all three on the 40-man so you can bet we’ll see them in Arlington by seasons end. They’ll be sure to find a spot for Nick Snyder on 40-man as well.
Other Promotions
Cole Uvila was promoted to Round Rock yesterday. He will see time in Arlington this year as well. Talk about a great guy who is well aware of his pitches and the analytics behind them. In his time with Frisco, he compiled a 2-2 with a 2.90 earned run average in 31 innings pitched. He walked 14 and struckout 42.
Tai Tiedemann has been promoted from the High-A Hickory Crawdads tp the Frisco RoughRiders.
