Around the Farm 4/16/19
Thank you once again for reading. If you are reading Around the Farm for the first time, we take you around the Texas Rangers farm system each day to give highlights of each game from the day before.
The news of the day is that Brock Burke was activated from the 7-day IL and started for the RoughRiders. Do not panic over his start tonight. I’ll go over it more in the RoughRiders section.
Nashville Sounds (4-9)
It was tail-waggin Tuesday at First Tennessee Park. I guess you could say that the dogs took a bite out of the fun because the Sounds lost 11-2.
Wes Benjamin (0-2, 7.11 ERA) got the start for the Sounds and it was not his best outing. He pitched 5 innings giving up 5 runs on 8 hits, 2 for home runs. He walked 2 and struck out 4.
Tim Dillard (11.74 ERA) is having a rough start to the season. He pitched 2 innings and allowed 4 runs on 5 hits and struck out 3.
Line-up
Matt Davidson went 1-3 with his 4th home run of the year and a strikeout. After a slow start he is now heating up and his average is at .217.
Andy Ibanez went 1-3 with a run and is hitting .350.
Hunter Cole had the other RBI even though he went 0-2 with a walk and a strikeout out. He is hitting .100 on the year.
Frisco RoughRiders (8-4)
The RoughRiders lost 8-6 to the Corpus Christi Hooks.
As we know, Brock Burke got the start for the RoughRiders. He was just activated from the 7- day IL and made his 2nd start of the season.
I’m sure we’ve all seen his line but do not, I repeat DO NOT panic. He did not have a good outing and in case you haven’t seen his line, here it is.
2 IP 7 runs allowed, 5 earned, 4 hits 3 BB, 2 SO, 6.43 ERA. He threw 61 pitches and 36 of those were strikes. His defense didn’t help him out either as they had 2 errors.
I told you, Don’t panic. He’ll be alright.
Line-up
Things started off to a slow start for the offense.
They didn’t score a run until the 6th inning when they put up a 5 spot. They also scored 1 in the top of the 9th.

Local Native Preston Beck had an 0-5 night with 2 strikeouts and is hitting .294.
Down East Wood Ducks (9-4)

Tyler Phillips got the start tonight for the DEWDs and he did his normal thing.
Still scoreless in Down East. Tyler Phillips through 7 innings.

This kid throws strikes and I noticed as I watched a little bit of the game. I’m by no means a scout but he threw a beauty of a Curve ball that hit the bottom of the zone for a strike. Watch out for him as he still has not allowed a run in his 19 innings.
Shout out to Emmanuel Clase who pitched 2 scoreless innings in relief and has yet to allow a run as well. He allowed 2 hits, 1 walk and struck out 2.
Line-up
The offense broke through in the top of the 9th to win the game.
Eric Jenkins had a fielding error on a ball that he should have caught. It was his 1st error of the year but he did contribute to the win as well. He went 2-5 with an RBI and 1 strikeout. He is hitting .261 on the year.
Leody Taveras went 1-4 with a walk and 2 strikeouts. His average is at .362.
Diosbel Arias went 2-5 with 2 strikeouts and is hitting .311 on the year.
Ryan Dorow went 2-4 with a home run and 1 strikeout. He is hitting .256 on the year.
This was kind of cool.
