Around the Farm 4/15/19

Thank you for joining as we go around the Texas Rangers Farm system and review games played on 4/15/19.

Nashville Sounds (4-8)

The Nashville Sounds beat the San Antonio Missions by a final of 10-5.

Ariel Jurado (2-0, 4.50) got the start for the Sounds. He pitched 5 innings allowing 5 runs on 10 hits with no walks and struck out 7.

Brett Martin (1.17) got his 2nd hold of the season. He pitched 2 scoreless innings during which he allowed 4 hits and struck out 2.

Zac Curtis (4.26) got his 1st save of the season. He pitched 2 scoreless innings allowing 1 hit, 3 walks and struck out 3.

Line-up

Zach Granite went 2-5 with 2 runs, 1 SO. He is hitting .237 on the year.

Willie Calhoun is heating up folks. He started the year kind of slow but has picked things up recently. He went 1-5 with a 3 run HR (3). His average is .277 with a .914 OPS.

Speaking of heating up, Matt Davidson is as well. He went 2-4 with a home run, 3 runs and 3 RBI and has a .209 average on the year.

Jett Bandy and Hunter Cole each hit a home run and for Bandy it was his 2nd of the year.

Frisco RoughRiders (8-3)

The RoughRiders win streak was snapped but they can’t win them all. They lost 4-6 to the Corpus Christi Hooks.

Pedro Payano (3.97) got the start for the RoughRiders and pitched 6.1 innings. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits, including a home run, 3 walks and 4 strikeouts.

Yoel Espinal (1-1, 4.05) got the loss even though he only pitched .1 inning but he allowed 2 runs on 1 home run, 1 walk and 1 strikeout.

Line-up

1-6 in the line-up had at least 1 hit. Christian Lopes had another multi-hit game going 3-5. He struck out 1 time. His Average is now .342.

Juremi Profar was the other with a multi hit game. He went 2-4 with an RBI and 1 strikeout. His average is .243 on the year.

#DEWD (8-4)

The Down East Wood Ducks won 5-2 over the Salem Red Sox (Red Sox affiliate).

The Wood Ducks got excellent pitching from Jason Bahr. He pitched 7 innings, allowing 1 run on 2 hits, 1 walk and struck out 8. He has a 0.82 ERA for the year.

DeMarcus Evans (2.45) got his 2nd save of the year and only got 1 out.

Line-up

Eric Jenkins went 3-5 with 2 runs and an RBI. His average is .244.

Bubba Thompson is getting off to a slow start. Hopefully things are coming together for him. He went 1-1 but then came out of the game. I will have to keep an eye out for any injury news.

Leody Taveras is another guy who could see himself in Frisco soon. He went 1-5 with a run and a strikeout and is hitting .372 on the year.

Hickory Crawdads (9-2)

The Crawdads shut out the Asheville Tourists (Colorado Rockies) by a final of 2-0.

Tim Brennan (1-0, 0.82 ERA) pitched 6 strong innings allowing only 1 hit, 1 walk and struck out 3 Tourists. Great performance by him throwing only 73 pitches.

Abdiel Mendoza (0.00) held them scoreless in his inning as well. He allowed 1 hit, walked 2 and struck out 1.

Scott Engler shut it down for his 1st save. He pitched 2 innings and struck out 5 on 27 pitches!

Line-up

Sam Huff went 1-4 with his 4th home run of the year. He is hitting .286 with an OPS of .929.

Curtis Terry has been outstanding. He went 1-4 and had the other RBI. He struck out as well and is hitting .317 with an OPS of 1.047.

I am married with 2 boys. I love spending time with family and I am addicted to Baseball!
