Around the Farm: April 7, 2019
This is an update on some of the game highlights throughout the Rangers farm system on April 7th.
Nashville Sounds (1-3)
The Sounds lost 5-3 to the Iowa Cubs.
Richelson Pena got the start and pitched 5 innings.
5 IP, 5 runs, 1 ER, 3 BB and 6 SO. His ERA is 1.80. He threw 81 pitches, 52 of those were strikes.
Brett Martin pitched a scoreless inning with 1 SO. His ERA is 3.86.
Miguel Del Pozo pitched 2 innings allowing 4 hits and striking out 4.
Zach Granite went 1-5 with a strikeout and is hitting .154.
Willie Calhoun went 1-4 with a strikeout and is hitting .167.
Chase d’Arnaud was the DH and went 2-3 with a HR in the first inning. He walked as well and is hitting .429.
Andy Ib??ez went 3-4 with an RBI and has a .750 AVG.
Jose Trevino had an 0-4 night and is hitting .077.
Eli White?went 1-3 with a walk and is batting .385.
Frisco RoughRiders (2-1)
This game will be final at a later date once they have resumed play. It was suspended in the top of the 11th with 1 out and the bases loaded for the RockHounds. Score 4-1 RockHounds.
Joe Palumbo made his first start of the year for Frisco. I was there along with the recliner nerd to witness it in person. You can read about it by clicking the link on his name.
His final line was 4.2 IP, 2 hits 1 run on a HR, 3 BB and 8 SO. 1.93 ERA.
Jairo Beras was pitching when the game was suspended. His line was .1 IP, 3 R, 2 ER, 2 hits, 3 BB. His ERA is 13.50.
The only run came from a 430 foot home run by LeDarius Clark. He went 1-3 with a walk and 2 SO. He is hitting .222.
Down East Wood Ducks (2-2)
The Wood Ducks won 7-1 over the Carolina Mudcats (Milwaukee Brewers affiliate).
Reid Anderson got the start for the Wood Ducks.
His line was 4.1 IP, 4 BB, 6 SO and threw 73 pitches and 38 were strikes.
Kaleb Fontenot got the win pitching 1.2 innings and struck out 1. His ERA is 11.57.
Bubba Thompson went 0-3 with a run, 1 walk and 1 strikeout and is batting .143.
Leody Taveras has been tearing the cover off the ball. He went 1-4 with a run and 3 strikeouts but is hitting .563.
Diosbel Arias is someone to keep an eye on. He went 1-3 with a run, 3 RBI, 1 walk and 2 strikeouts. His average is .333.
Tyreque Reed went 1-4 with 2 RBI and 1 strikeout. He is batting .125.
Ryan Dorow went 1-3 on a home run and 2 RBI. He also walked and struck out 2 times. He is hitting .300.
The line-up struck out a total of 13 times and left 13 on base.
Hickory Crawdads (3-1)
Hickory lost 6-2 to the Lakewood BlueClaws (Philadelphia Phillies affiliate).
John King got the start for Hickory and went 3 innings. He gave up 5 runs, 4 earned on 7 hits, 1 walk and 4 SO. He threw 71 pitches and 48 were strikes. His ERA is an even 12 and he took the loss.
Sean Chandler pitched 2 scoreless innings. He allowed 2 hits, 2 walks and struck out 5 and threw 38 pitches, 22 for strikes.
Dylan Bice pitched 2 scoreless innings and struck out 3.
Chris Seise will be moving on in the near future. He went 2-5 with a run and 2 SO but is hitting .529.
Jose Almonte went 2-3 with an RBI and 1 SO and is hitting .417.
Curtis Terry?went 2-4 with a strikeout and is hitting .353.
Sherten Apostel went 0-3 with a walk and a strikeout. He is hitting .188.
Sam Huff went 1-4 with a strikeout and is hitting .438.
Frainyer Chavez went 1-3 with a run and a walk. He is hitting .182.
Apostel and Gonzalez each had fielding errors.
