Marah Mason
Marah Mason started out in Michigan as a Tigers fan but came to Texas and her Rangers as fast as she could. You’ll find her in Little Elm with her family, when they aren’t all at RoughRiders games. Besides baseball, Star Wars and all things MCU are her love languages.
Not Your Daddy's Recap: August 2, 2020
Today's match-up has our Rangers facing the San Francisco Giants, and let me tell you right from the start I don't have a good feeling about this. Y'all, our bats have been sleepy. A downright snoozefest. Kluber's out. LeClerc is out. Santana is out. Odor is out. What in the world is happening with our guys? Is 2020 just cursed all around? The Giants have Samardzja on the mound, facing off against Allard. If you're new to "Not Your Daddy's", we do things a bit different around here.
Not Your Daddy's Recap: July 28 2020
Hey y'all and welcome to another "Not Your Daddy's Recap". Tonight we've got our Texas Rangers matching up with Arizona. Kyle Gibson is on the mound making his Rangers debut. If you're new to "Not Your Daddy's" here's how we play: nothing but the highlights! And of course whatever wanders across my mind during the game. Ketel Marte hits the first pitch from Gibson but thankfully it is almost right to Gallo, who makes the catch. I am wondering if this is an omen. Full count to Kole Calhoun.
Tonight's RoughRider Game Canceled
Tonight's Texas Collegiate League game between the Frisco RoughRiders and the Tulsa Driller's has been canceled. The RoughRider's announced the change this afternoon. Wednesday's 4:00pm and Thursday's 3:00pm games will be played as scheduled. Both games will be played without fans. The RoughRiders have not given a reason for the cancellation.
Who Goes Where?
It's almost time for the Rangers to cut their MLB Roster down to 30 and decide who moves along to the Alternate Team. Here are my best guesses on where some of the minor league prospects will end up. Let's start easy; Leody Taveras moves up to the show. He has more than proven himself during summer camp. We'd actually argue here that he's still the Rangers' #1 prospect. He's got that spark in his bat and pep in his step that the Rangers need. That moves Adolis Garcia to the Alternate Team a
Summer Camp Prospect Update
Yesterday the public got their first good Summer Camp look at some Ranger prospects when they broadcast play on TexasRangers.com. It wasn't just a batting practice (though Choo did hit the plate three half innings in a row) and it wasn't quite a scrimmage (again, see Choo's batting, among others) but what it was was a great way to see how some of our favorite young players are progressing. Adolis Garcia played for the Memphis Redbirds last season so there's a bit of discussion whether he'll be
Yohander Mendez reinstated and added to 60-man
Today the Rangers reinstated Yohander Mendez and added him to the 60 man Summer Camp Roster. Mendez had been suspended in March for seeking unauthorized outside medical care. He had not played in Spring Training due to left shoulder inflammation. President of Baseball Operations Jon Daniels had been asked about the suspension and stated, "There's a lot more to it than that, but I'm not going to get into it." No further information was released. Mendez only participated in three games last se
Rangers Release Summer Camp Roster
The Texas Rangers organization released their roster for upcoming "Summer Camp" or "Spring Training 2.0." Some surprises on the roster include Josh Jung and Sam Huff, both of whom were expected to make a splash in the minor leagues this season. It's doubtful they will make the final cut for the shortened season but should be interesting to see what they do during Summer Camp. Jung, who plays shortstop and third base, was drafted in the first round of the 2019 draft. He played for Hickory and
Rangers Sign Three Draft Picks: UPDATED
Today the Texas Rangers signed three of their top five draft picks. Justin Foscue, Evan Carter and Dylan MacLean were all signed to the team. Foscue, the first round draft pick, got a $3.25 million bonus. Carter's was $1.25 million and MacLean's $1.2 million. In other news, the Rangers came to terms with undrafted free agent right-hander Aidan Curry from Fordham Prep High School in New York City. UPDATE: All five draft picks are now signed. Today the Rangers arrived at deals with T.K. Roby
Rangers Agree To Deals With seven undrafted Free Agents
Today the Texas Rangers Organization agreed to deals with two undrafted free agents; Connor Sechler and Fernando Amara. Undrafted Free Agents cannot be signed for more than $20,000 Sechler is a right-handed relief pitcher from Missouri State. In September of 2019 he was suspended indefinitely for a "Violation of Team Rules" though no specifics were given. The 21-year-old was an All-American. Amara is a high school catcher from Puerto Rico. No information was immediately available on Amara.
Making the Rangers: Our All Minor League Lineup
Needless to say, we're a bit lost here at The Prospect Times without baseball. That lets our minds get to wandering, and our fearless leader Heath mentioned the other day, "What would a Rangers lineup look like if you could only fill it with current minor leaguers?" Hmm. What if indeed! The only stipulation was that they could never have played a single MLB game. Heath, Jeff and I got to talking, and we thought it might look something like this: 1st: Sherten Apostel The 21-year-old fr
