Frisco, Texas - OU had a chance to go 3-0 on the weekend and they almost pulled it off. They went up 2-0 after wins against Cal and Mississippi. It all came down to this game.
The Sooners found the scoreboard first scoring three runs in the 1st inning. Unfortunately, for the Sooners, OSU put up a five-spot in the top of the 3rd.
OSU didn't let up. They had several big run-scoring innings where they put up at least 3 runs.
Dakota Harris, my pick for the Classic MVP, tied the game at 5-5 with a two-run double in the in bottom of the 4th.
The Sooners had a chance in the bottom of the 8th with the bases loaded and no outs. OSU was able to stirkeout two in a row and then an infield hit to score a run, HBP to bring in another run, groundout ended the inning.
The Sooners got the first two runners on in the bottom of the 9th with the tying run at the plate. Buckeyes reliever Landon Beidelschies was able to get Dakota Harris on a fly out to end the game.
The Ohio State Buckeyes won 12-9 and took home the Frisco Classic Championship belt.
This was another fantastic Frisco College Baseball Classic that provided plenty of entertaining baseball all weekend long. If you've never been to one of these, I highly suggest you change that next season.
A heart felt thanks to Peak Events for another fantastic Frisco Classic!.
